Properties and Applications

• Profiplus Mounting Foam PUR 1K is a high-quality, single-component, moisture-curing, predominantly closed-cell polyurethane foam for mounting wooden, metal, or plastic window frames.
• For installing door frames.
• For insulating filling of roller shutter boxes and gaps between window frames and masonry.
• For thermal and/or sound insulation of shower trays and bathtubs.
• For thermal or sound insulation of pipework.
• For sealing wall penetrations.
• For bonding roof tiles and for applying thermal insulation in roofs, sanitary areas, and heating systems.
• Profiplus Mounting Foam PUR 1K is overpaintable and can be plastered over.

Profiplus Mounting Foam PUR 1K is supplied ready to use in an aerosol can and is also suitable for processing in lower temperature ranges. This type of mounting foam requires moisture to cure. Ambient humidity alone is not sufficient. Therefore, substrates should be well moistened before application. If necessary, also lightly moisten the surface of the foam after application with water. Depending on humidity and temperature, the product becomes tack-free after 15 minutes and can be cut after 30 to 40 minutes. After complete curing, excess foam can be trimmed. The cured foam is moisture-resistant, temperature-resistant, aging-resistant, insect-resistant, and rot-proof when used as intended.

Profiplus Mounting Foam PUR 1K complies with building material class B2 according to DIN 4102 and is CFC-free.

Prerequisites for substrates

• Substrates must be firm, load-bearing, dry, and free of dust, formwork release agents, other contaminants, or efflorescence.
• The parts to be foamed must have sufficient stability and be installed properly and professionally.
• Bonding of swinging or vibrating components with Profiplus Mounting Foam PUR 1K is not recommended.

Processing and Drying

Shake Profiplus Mounting Foam PUR 1K vigorously for about 30 seconds before use to homogenize the propellants separated during storage. Then screw the dosing adapter firmly onto the valve. The foam is then ready for use and forms a semi-rigid foam after curing, which adheres excellently to concrete, plaster, masonry, wood, and many plastics, but not to polyethylene, PTFE, or silicone rubber. Always hold the can with the valve pointing downward and fill the gap up to the foam level. The foam expands to two to three times the volume of the dispensed material.

Profiplus Mounting Foam PUR 1K should not be processed below 5°C substrate and ambient temperature. For optimal processing results, it is recommended to precondition the foam in lukewarm water to a material temperature of at least 10°C to 15°C. Use only lukewarm water. At a material temperature above 50°C, there is a risk of bursting the can. The ideal processing temperature is around 20°C.

Pro Tips

• Protect sensitive surfaces such as plastic, wood, aluminum, glass, flooring, and other delicate surfaces from foam by waterproof masking before application.
• Remove fresh foam contamination immediately with PU cleaner. Clean tools thoroughly after use.
• When installing door frames, insert the foam at the height of the hinge attachments and lock, up to a maximum height of 50 mm at the fastening points. Keep the frame spread until fully cured, which takes up to 24 hours. A final on-site assessment is always essential.
• Processing temperatures below 20°C result in longer curing times. Protect sensitive surfaces as described above.

Material Consumption

• Uncured foam yield: 500 ml container – approximately 24 liters at 20°C ambient temperature; approximately 22 meters of 2 cm thick bead.
• Uncured foam yield: 750 ml container – approximately 40 liters at 20°C ambient temperature; approximately 40 meters of 2 cm thick bead.
• The exact material requirement must be determined on-site.

Storage

Profiplus Mounting Foam PUR 1K should be stored cool but frost-free. Frost-free storage must also be ensured during transport and on construction sites. Original containers can be stored for 18 months.

Notes on Return and Recycling of Packaging

We are obliged under the current Packaging Act to accept packaging materials from end consumers free of charge, including transport packaging such as pallets and large packaging, sales and secondary packaging that typically do not become waste at private end users, and sales and secondary packaging for which system participation is not possible due to incompatibility, as well as packaging containing hazardous substances or multi-use packaging. When delivering the product, appropriate packaging material is used, which we accept back free of charge. This ensures the return of packaging into the recycling cycle. Through information about return options, better recycling results can be achieved, contributing to the fulfillment of European recycling targets under Directive 94/62/EC.

End consumers can return packaging materials at the place of actual transfer or nearby. If environmentally and health-wise safe return of hazardous or system-incompatible packaging is not possible at the transfer site, return can also be made at a central collection point within a reasonable distance, during the business hours of the distributor, according to legal regulations.
