Requirements:
The subbase and load-bearing layer must be sufficiently even, load-bearing and able to drain water. They must be designed in such a way that no harmful deformation occurs. Ensure drainage by using a drainable subbase or sufficient drainage gradient if necessary in combination with a drainage mat. Outdoor and ground temperatures > 5°C, max. 25°C.

Tools:
Free-fall mixer or forced-action mixer, water hose, spray nozzle, shovel, broom, paving tool, wheelbarrow.

Mixing trass drain mortar:
vdw 470 GaLa-DrainMörtel with 8 % clean and cold water (2.0 litres of water for 25 kg dry mortar) and mix until a uniform, earth-moist consistency is achieved. No maturing time is required. Mortar that has started to set may not be made workable again by adding water or fresh mortar.

Mortar application:
The prepared mortar is applied in the usual way. Only present as much material as can be processed within the working time. The layer thickness must be at least 4 cm, max. 10 cm in the compacted state, depending on the intended use or construction method. Set the paving blocks hammerfest into vdw 470 GaLa-DrainMörtel . To improve adhesion, we recommend dipping the paving blocks in vdw 495 Universal-HaftBrücke before jointing. After 48 hours, the surfaces can be jointed with vdw paving joint mortar.
For installing slabs vdw 470 GaLa-DrainMörtel plan-levelling should be done in accordance with the relevant bedding thickness.

For installing slabs vdw 470 GaLaDrainMörtel plan-levelling should be done in accordance with the relevant bedding thickness. Before laying the slabs, apply vdw 495 Universal-HaftBrücke to the underside of the slabs. The jointing area must be free of vdw 495 Universal-HaftBrücke.

Alternative processing (exclusively for areas with pedestrian use):
The mortar is poured directly from the bag into the required layer thickness, and plan-levelling is carried out. Then activate the laid area by applying a light spray of water mist. To improve adhesion, we recommend dipping the paving blocks in vdw 495 Universal-HaftBrücke before installation. Before laying slabs vdw 495 Universal-HaftBrücke  apply to the underside of the slabs.  The jointing area 
must be free of vdw 495 Universal-HaftBrücke. After the surfacing area has been completed, thoroughly wet it with water. This ensures that the water reaches the bedding layer through the joints and activates the hardening process.

Important: Protect the mortar from too rapid drying and from rain for 12 hours. Barricade the freshly laid surface for at least 48 hours. After 24 hours, the surfaces can be jointed. After 7 days, it is load-bearing for cars. Fully load-bearing after 14 days.

For constructions on drainage mats with exposed surface edges (e.g. balconies & roof terraces), the bedding mortar must be dry before jointing under all circumstances; otherwise leaching from the bedding layer 
could lead to efflorescence at exposed surfacing edges or drainage facilities. Sufficient drying is only ensured after at least 3 days.
