Substrate Preparation
- The entire structure of the traffic surface and paving must be designed according to the expected load according to RStO. In general, bonded construction is preferred. The regulations and information sheets for paving and slab laying apply here.
- Bring the joints to the required depth before grouting, ensuring evenness.
- For old paving renovation, blow out the joints to the required depth and remove dirt from the stone edges.
- Allow the mortar or laying mortar to set.
- Clean the surface beforehand, ensuring no water remains in the joint gaps. Avoid formation of water pockets.
Pre-treatment of surfaces
A pre-treatment with PCI Primer prior to grouting with PCI Pavifix CEM can be helpful to achieve a largely mortar-free surface after cleaning. After drying the PCI Primer (2-3 hours), grouting with PCI Pavifix CEM can begin. For processing instructions, see Technical Data Sheet No. 833 from PCI.
Processing
Pour the mixing water into a clean container. Add the powder and mix with a suitable stirrer or mixing tool attached to a high-performance drill, paddle mixer, or forced mixer until a homogeneous, lump-free mortar is obtained. Do not allow the material to burn on the stone surface. After a maturation time of approximately 3 minutes, stir again.
Grouting
Slurry process
- Apply the mortar to the paving surface, distribute with a firm rubber squeegee, and press into the joint. Minimize the amount of material remaining on the stone surface.
- Within 1 hour, clean the paving stones with a water jet. To prevent joint filling, direct the water jet nearly horizontally to the surface.
Gießlich process
- Apply the mortar with a suitable gießlich container into the joints. Remove excess with a spatula. Wash the slab within 1 hour with a sponge board.
- After drying, remove any remaining mortar film with a damp sponge.
