Properties and Applications

• Profiplus Mounting Foam PUR 1Kreg is a high-quality single-component moisture-curing predominantly closed-cell polyurethane foam for mounting wooden, metal, or plastic window frames,
• for installing door frames,
• for insulating filling of roller shutter boxes and gaps between window frames and masonry,
• for thermal and/or sound insulation of shower trays and bathtubs,
• for thermal or sound insulation of pipelines,
• for sealing wall penetrations,
• for bonding roof tiles, as well as
• for applying thermal insulation in roofs, sanitary areas, and heating systems.

Profiplus Mounting Foam PUR 1Kreg is overpaintable and can be plastered over.

Profiplus Mounting Foam PUR 1Kreg is supplied ready to use in an aerosol can and is also suitable for processing at lower temperatures. This type of mounting foam requires moisture to cure. Ambient humidity alone is not sufficient. Therefore, substrates should be well moistened before application, and if necessary, the surfaces of the foam can be lightly wetted with water. Depending on humidity and temperature, the product becomes tack-free after 15 minutes and can be cut after 30 to 40 minutes. After complete curing, excess foam can be trimmed. The cured foam is moisture-resistant, temperature-resistant, aging-resistant, insect-proof, and rot-proof when used as intended.

Profiplus Mounting Foam PUR 1Kreg complies with building material class B2 according to DIN 4102 and is CFC-free.

Prerequisites for substrates

• Substrates must be firm, load-bearing, dry, dust-free, and free of formwork release agents, other contaminants, or efflorescence.
• The parts to be foamed must have sufficient self-stability and be installed properly and professionally.
• Bonding of vibrating or oscillating components with Profiplus Mounting Foam PUR 1Kreg should be avoided.

Processing and Drying

Before use, shake Profiplus Mounting Foam PUR 1Kreg vigorously for about 30 seconds to homogenize the propellants separated during storage. Then screw the dosing adapter firmly onto the valve. The foam is then ready for use and, after curing, forms a semi-rigid foam that adheres excellently to concrete, plaster, masonry, wood, and many plastics, but not to polyethylene, PTFE, or silicone rubber. Always hold the can with the valve pointing downward and fill the gap up to half the height with foam. The foam expands to two to three times the volume of the dispensed material. Do not process below 5°C substrate and ambient temperature. For optimal results, it is recommended to precondition the foam in hand-warm water to a material temperature of at least 10°C to 15°C. Use only hand-warm water. Foam processing at temperatures above 50°C can cause bursting of the can. The ideal processing temperature is around 20°C.

Pro Tip

Protect sensitive surfaces such as plastic, wood, aluminum, glass, flooring, and other delicate surfaces by waterproof masking before foam application. Remove fresh foam stains immediately with PU cleaner. Clean tools thoroughly after use.

Installation of Door Frames

• Insert the foam at the height of the strap mounts and lock, up to a maximum height of 50 mm at the fastening points.
• Leave the spreaders in place until full curing of the foam, which takes up to 24 hours.
• A final on-site assessment is fundamentally essential.
• Processing at temperatures below 20°C results in longer curing times.
• Protect sensitive surfaces by waterproof masking before foam application.

Material Consumption

• Open-cell foam yield: 500 ml container at 20°C ambient temperature yields approximately 24 liters, or about 12 meters at 2 cm diameter.
• Open-cell foam yield: 750 ml container at 20°C ambient temperature yields approximately 40 liters, or about 20 meters at 2 cm diameter.
• The exact material requirement must be determined on-site.

Storage

Profiplus Mounting Foam PUR 1Kreg should be stored cool but frost-free. Frost-free storage must also be ensured during transport and on-site. Original containers can be stored for 18 months.

Notes on Return and Recycling of Packaging Material

We are obliged under the current Packaging Act to take back packaging materials free of charge from end consumers, including:

• Transport packaging such as pallets and large packaging,
• Sales and secondary packaging that typically do not become waste from private end users after use,
• Sales and secondary packaging for which system participation is not possible due to incompatibility with the system according to section 7 paragraph 5,
• Sales packaging containing hazardous substances, or
• Reusable packaging.

When delivering the product, appropriate packaging material is used, which we take back free of charge. This ensures the return of packaging material into the recycling cycle. By informing about return options, better recycling results can be achieved, contributing to the fulfillment of European recovery targets according to Directive 94/62/EC.

End consumers can return packaging material at the place of actual handover or in its immediate vicinity. If environmentally and health-wise safe return of hazardous substances or packaging containing hazardous substances, or packaging for which system participation is not possible due to system incompatibility, is not feasible at the point of actual handover or nearby, the return can also be made at a central collection point if it is within a reasonable distance and accessible during the trader's usual opening hours according to section 15 paragraph 2 VerpackG.
