Poroton Thin Bed Mortar Type M IV
For the construction of masonry using Poroton plan bricks in accordance with general building authority approvals:
Z171490, 537, 559, 619, 625, 651, 674, 678, 683, 706, 728, 812, 868, 872, 877, 889, 890, 966, 972, 982, 983, 999, 1017, 1034, 1035, 1041, 1057, 1058, 1060, 1061, 1063
Processing:
- Water addition for thin bed mortar Type M IV
- For various applications in 15 kg packages:
- Full-surface mortar application VD System for filled and unfilled plan bricks: approximately 9 liters
- Rolling and dipping processes are not full-surface; mortar adheres only to the brick webs: 9.5 – 10.5 liters
Mix the water amount according to the application in a clean mortar bucket and add the entire bag content while stirring continuously until a lump-free consistency is achieved, suitable for the specific application.
After a maturation time of approximately 5 minutes, remix briefly. Observe DIN 1053 or DIN EN 998-2!
Substrate:
Brick surfaces must be clean and as dust-free as possible. Do not work at freezing temperatures, on frozen substrates, or with frozen bricks!
Important!
Thin bed mortar Type M IV must be mixed only with clean water without any additives. Do not process below 5°C. Do not remix already stiffened material!
When processing with the mortar application roller, always apply only as much mortar as can be covered with plan bricks in accordance with the processing guidelines for plan brick masonry, considering weather conditions.
For longer work interruptions, such as end of day or weekend, masonry crowns must be protected against moisture and weather influences with appropriate measures. Store opened packages in a dry place.
Mortar application in the covering process VD System:
Processing for all plan brick wall thicknesses > 17.5 cm, but not for plan full bricks PFZT according to Z171537 and Z171559.
Fill fresh mortar into the corresponding cover mortar application device and apply evenly to the plan brick masonry at a uniform speed, so that a full-surface joint of approximately 2 – 3 mm thickness is formed.
Mortar application in the dipping process:
Processing for all plan brick wall thicknesses and plan full bricks PFZT according to Z171537 and Z171559, but not for insulation-filled bricks according to Z171674, 812, 872, 966, 982, 983, 999, 1017, 1034, 1035, 1041, 1057, 1058, 1060, 1061.
Fill fresh mortar into a mortar tub suitable for the plan brick dipping process. Lightly dip plan bricks with the lower hole side into the thin bed mortar (1 – 2 mm) and immediately position. All brick webs must be sufficiently coated with mortar to ensure a locking of the thin bed mortar with the bricks after placement on the existing wall.
