vdw Expansion Joint Set for Manufacturing a 10m Expansion Joint
Complete set for creating a highly elastic, abrasion-resistant, weather-resistant movement joint for all natural stone, concrete stone, and ceramic coverings. Sufficient for 10 linear meters
Suitable coverings:
- Concrete paving
- Natural stone paving and slabs
- Patio slabs
- Concrete / Ceramic
Properties:
- The set includes all products necessary for the construction of a standard-compliant expansion joint
- The color of the expansion joints is coordinated with the colors of vdw joint mortar systems
- Adjustable with abrasive sand for optimal adaptation to vdw synthetic resin joint mortar
- Free of solvents
- Wide adhesion spectrum
- Very good UV and ozone resistance
- Meets the requirements of DIN 18540
Prerequisites:
Joint edges must be clean, free of dust, oil, and grease, and the surface and joint edges must be load-bearing. Remove residues that may act as release agents. Depending on the covering type, prime with vdw 881 Primer. Observe the curing time. The ratio of joint width to joint depth must be considered. No moisture, frost, or dew on the joint edges. Stable substrate.
Joint width 5 mm, 20 mm;
Joint depth 5 mm, 20 mm
Object temperature minimum 5 C, maximum 30 C
Test surface:
In natural and concrete stone coverings, contact between vdw 885 FugenFlex compact and the stone surface can cause visual changes, such as darkening and/or staining. We generally recommend creating a test surface.
Application:
If necessary and depending on edge design, mask the surrounding area with tape.
Inject vdw 885 FugenFlex compact evenly into the open joint with pressure.
Joints must be completely filled without air inclusions. Immediately smooth the surface with a damp spatula, wooden float, or trowel.
Remove tape immediately afterward and, if necessary, re-smooth the joint.
Immediately after, vdw 885 FugenFlex compact can be sprinkled with vdw 886 Abrasive Sand to match the color of the other joints.
Post-treatment:
The following points refer to a temperature of 23 C and 50 % relative humidity. High temperatures shorten, low temperatures extend curing and protection time.
Seal the freshly processed joints for at least 24 hours. Afterwards, the surfaces are walkable. Final traffic release of the surfaces after 7 days. In principle, a strength test should be performed before putting the surfaces into operation.
