weberrep KB duo is a combined product that can be used both as a mineral-based corrosion protection for reinforcement steel and as a cement mortar bonding bridge. weberrep KB duo can also be used as a bonding bridge for cement mortar composite screeds. Product Description

weberrep KB duo is a polymer-modified ready-mix dry mortar according to DIN EN 15047. weberrep KB duo is an system component in conjunction with weberrep R4 duo, approved according to ZTVING and DAfStbR, and is building authority approved (AbP No P526800514).

Substrate Preparation

As corrosion protection: rusted reinforcement steel must be descaled according to DIN EN ISO 12944-4 to surface cleanliness grade Sa 2.

As bonding bridge: clean, frost-free, absorbent, load-bearing, and free of all substances that impair adhesion. Suitable pretreatment methods include shot blasting, sandblasting, etc. The substrate's surface tensile strength must be >15 N/mm². Concrete substrate should be thoroughly wetted and dried to a matte, moist surface. Avoid formation of laitance.

Application

Mixing process: Fill the container with 30.6 liters per 20 kg or 15 liters per 5 kg of dry mortar, then add water free of lumps. First add water, then gradually add the powder. Mix intensively for approx. 3 minutes. During application, occasionally stir the mixture.

Application as corrosion protection

The descaled reinforcement steel is painted with a brush in two coats, each about 2-3 hours apart, in a closed layer. After the second coat, the bonding bridge can be applied.

Application as bonding bridge

Apply the bonding bridge generously with a brush, roller, or broom onto the prepared concrete substrate. The concrete replacement mortar weberrep R4 duo is to be applied onto the still fresh bonding bridge and worked in fully. The application area should be such that the concrete replacement mortar can always be applied onto the fresh bonding bridge, i.e., before a skin forms on the bonding bridge. Bonding bridge and replacement mortar should therefore be mixed simultaneously.

• Corrosion protection per meter of steel, 14 mm diameter, with 2 coats: approx. 190 g
• Bonding bridge, depending on substrate roughness: approx. 15–25 kg/m³
