KNAUF Sockel LUP Basecoat lightweight render 1.5mm 30kg
MHD: 04/2025. Goods from return and warranty excluded.
Rapid-setting lime-cement lightweight undercoat with lightweight aggregates for all common masonry substrates as a basement wall and plinth render for exterior use, and as a base coat in damp rooms. Also as a substrate for ceramic tile coverings.
Properties:
- Compressive strength category CS III to DIN EN 998-1
- For interior and exterior use
- Water-repellent
- Rapid-setting
- With lightweight aggregate
- Application by machine or by hand
- Fine-grained
Scope of application:
Knauf Sockel LUP is a plinth lightweight undercoat for mineral and paste-like topcoats for interior and exterior use.
- As a basement wall exterior render
- As an undercoat on masonry with compressive strength classes = 8
- As an undercoat on concrete
- As an undercoat for tiles in damp rooms, domestic bathrooms and kitchens
Execution:
Single coat 15-20 mm; for render thicknesses of 20-30 mm work in two or more coats. Roughen the bottom coat with a broom. After the first coat has dried completely (1 day per mm render thickness), apply the second coat and embed the undercoat reinforcing fabric over the full area close to the surface. Alternatively, instead of the undercoat reinforcing fabric, after the second coat has dried completely (one week per cm additional render thickness) carry out full-area fabric reinforcement with SM700Pro, SM300 or Sockel-SM.
Preparation:
Normally absorbent substrates can be rendered without any pre-treatment. For strongly absorbent substrates, carry out the work wet-on-damp. Apply a layer of 5 –10 mm and then apply the second layer wet-on-damp up to the required render thickness. For non-absorbent substrates, a mineral render bonding bridge must be applied using SM700 Pro, SM300, Sockel-SM or Lustro.
Application:
If the substrate is pre-treated, first allow the primer applied to the substrate to dry completely. Undercoats are usually processed with a mixing pump, e.g. PFT G4/G5, making them particularly efficient and time-saving. However, they can also be applied to the wall by hand. Then distribute the render surface evenly using the straightedge or a screed board and scratch back after the mortar has stiffened.
Drying:
The finished base render surface must be completely dried out before further coating. Drying time depends on the render thickness and on external conditions such as weather, temperature etc. To prevent drying out too quickly, exterior renders must be protected from direct sunlight. In principle, the following applies to drying time: at least 1 day/mm render thickness.
