SAKRET KeramikVarioKontakt KVK 25kg Trass-modified special mortar
Bond coat / thin- and medium-bed mortar:
The substrate must be dry, sound, load-bearing, free from cracks and dimensionally stable (torsion-resistant).
Weakly adhering and/or non-load-bearing surface layers, extremely dense and/or smooth substrates, cement slurries, separating layers (e.g. dirt, dust, grease, oil, paint residues, etc.) must be removed and/or roughened (e.g. Blastrac -process).
The requirements of DIN 18157-1 apply.
The pre-treated mineral substrate must be sufficiently pre-wetted for approx. 2 hours before application and kept damp.
Masonry mortar:
The stones must be frost-free and free from contamination.
For strongly absorbent stones and/or unfavourable ambient temperatures, restrict premature and excessive water withdrawal from the mortar by pre-wetting the stones or other suitable measures.
At vertical structural elements, a suitably dimensioned flexible strip must be installed to avoid inherent stresses.
Movement joints from the substructure must be carried through to the superstructure. Depending on the area size and –geometry, movement joints must be provided.
Mix in a clean container with clean, cold mains water, without lumps, to a consistency suitable for application.
A mixing device with a helical or double-disc impeller is recommended.
After the maturation time (see Technical Data), mix again thoroughly and apply.
Bond coat:
When laying non-colour-changing natural stone / concrete slabs in the mortar bed, the back of the slabs must be fully bedded with the bond coat, free from voids.
For paving surfaces, the dipping method is recommended.
The bond coat must be worked over fresh-on-fresh.
Thin- and medium-bed mortar
Apply in accordance with DIN 18157 - 1. First, apply a contact layer to the clean, free-from release agent and dust-free back of the slabs by trowelling on, then pull up the adhesive mortar with the appropriate notched trowel and lay the slabs.
Apply only as much mortar as can be slid into or placed into the fresh mortar bed within the open time, e.g. slabs. Ensure as void-free a laying as possible
Masonry mortar:
The mortar must be processed within approx. 3 hours (20°C, 50% relative air humidity).
On site, factory-made mortars must not be mixed with any added aggregates or additives (additional substances and admixtures).
