The different models of Rührer mainly result from the intended mode of action in the materials to be mixed. Depending on the mineralogical and chemical components of the materials to be mixed and the resulting viscosity, it is necessary to use the appropriate Rührergeometrie to achieve an optimal mixing result.

Upward mixing for heavy and dry materials

The most common mixing effect works from bottom to top, type WK and MK. This is ideal for materials with heavy components, such as mortar, plasters, screed, or concrete. With its right-handed rotation, the Rührer works similarly to a screw, self-penetrating into the mixing material and pushing the heavy components upward. This mixing effect also reduces the required force when mixing.

Downward mixing with liquid and flowing materials

In downward mixing, the mixing blades push the material from top to bottom. This mixing effect is preferred for very soft or low-viscosity materials such as self-leveling compounds, paints, coatings, or gypsum plaster, to prevent splashing of the medium. When mixing materials with higher density, a higher force must be considered with these Rührer types.

Horizontal mixing for soft-plastic and creamy materials

This mixing effect describes a lateral movement of the material, as the construction of the Rührer has no parts directed upward or downward. The inconspicuous geometry of the Rührkorb KR, with its very high shear chamber clearance, counteracts lump formation frontally and ensures quick homogenization. It is therefore the ideal candidate for mixing tile adhesives. Its crossbar also ensures a clean material discharge from the container floor.

Forced mixing for particularly thorough and easy mixing

Two counter-rotating Rührer generate a so-called forced mixing. The material is forced to pass through the mixing zone of both Rührer types, resulting in a rapid and intensive mixing of the material. This mixing principle is especially suitable for particularly difficult-to-mix substances, e.g., concrete screed, epoxy-based materials, and others. At the same time, the torque of the two Rührer types cancels out against the machine, making mixing significantly easier for the operator.
