Description:
vdw 495 adhesive slurry is a highly polymer-modified, hydraulically hardening, water-impermeable, high-quality bonding agent for installing paving and non-translucent tile coverings such as ceramic body, split and natural stone on suitable drainage bedding mortar. Create a test area!
Binder: standard cements with additives, chromate-reduced according to TRGS 613
Supply form: 25 kg bag
Material characteristics:
Bond tensile strength: > 2,0 N/mm²
Storage stability: 9 months dry and frost-free
Application data:
Bond tensile strength: > 2,0 N/mm²
Storage stability: 9 months dry and frost-free
Application data:
Mixing ratio of components: 5 or 7 litres of water per 25-kg bag, depending on the desired method of application
Working time: approx. 60 minutes at 20 °C after preparation of the material
Maturation time: approx. 2 minutes
Underfloor heating: suitable
Outdoor temperature: min. 5°C, max. 25°C
Substrate temperature: min. 5°C, max. 25°C
Requirements:
The sub-base and load-bearing layer must be sufficiently level, load-bearing and capable of conducting water and must correspond to the stresses expected! You must size them so that no harmful deformation occurs. Outdoor and substrate temperatures > 5°C, max. 25°C.
Mixing adhesive slurry:
To produce a mortar that is suitable for brushing or dipping, mix vdw 495 adhesive slurry with max. 7 litres (for 25 kg dry mortar) of clean, cold water using a suitable mixing paddle for approx. 2 minutes until homogeneous. Maturation time approx. 2 minutes, then briefly remix again. To produce a morta that is stable in shape for application using a notched trowel, mix vdw 495 adhesive slurry with max. 5 litres (for 25 kg dry mortar) of clean, cold water after the mixing time stated above. Mortar that has begun to set must not be made workable again with water or fresh mortar.
We recommend mixing only those quantities that can be used up within the specified working time.
Mortar application:
Apply the prepared adhesive slurry over the full area and generously to the clean underside of the covering using a brush or by dipping, or using a notched trowel. The covering treated with adhesive slurry should be installed in the still-fresh bedding mortar (“fresh in fresh”). Protect vdw 495 adhesive slurry from rapid drying. The open-porous nature of the bedding in the joint area must be maintained.
Curing:
The following points apply to a temperature of 20°C and 65% relative humidity (high temperatures shorten, low temperatures extend the setting time). Fence off the freshly laid areas for at least 24 hours. After 24 hours the surfaces are ready for grouting. Protect the mortar 12 hours before rapid drying and from rain. Fully loadable after 7 days.
Consumption: approx. 1,6 kg/m²/mm
