Transparent silk-matte wood coating on natural oil basis for all wood in outdoor areas. Open-pored, allows the wood to breathe, reduces swelling and shrinking. Water-repellent, weather- and UV-resistant. Does not blister, peel, crack, or flake. Easy to recoat without sanding. No primer necessary. Light and seamless application. Dries during brushing. The dried coating is safe for humans, animals, and plants, saliva- and sweat-proof according to DIN 53160. Suitable for children's toys according to EN 713.

Application Area

OSMO Terrassenöl protects and maintains wooden decks, garden furniture, and privacy screens made from various coniferous and hardwoods such as pressure-treated pine, Douglas fir, cedar, oak, or Bangkirai. Also suitable for transparent-colored treatments of teak, eucalyptus, and other hardwoods, as well as thermally modified wood.

Shelf Life

5 years or longer if stored dry and tightly sealed. If thickened by frost, store at room temperature for 24-36 hours before use.

Preparation

Wood with a high content of extractives should be weathered for at least 4 weeks or wiped with Osmo Brush Cleaner to degrease. Resinous woods such as larch and Douglas fir should be weathered for at least 6 weeks. Fresh pressure-treated wood, Massaranduba, Bangkirai, or Garapa should be weathered for at least 3 months before treatment. Already gray wood should be treated with Osmo Wood Graying Gel for degraying. The wood surface must be clean, dry, and frost-free, with a maximum moisture content of 20%. Osmo Terrassenöl is ready to use and does not need thinning. Thoroughly stir. Clean old open-pore coatings thoroughly. Old paint and varnish coatings must be completely removed. Wear a dust mask when sanding. If possible, apply the first coat to all sides of the wood before installation. If additional protection against mold, blue stain, and insect infestation is desired, paint the wood all around with Osmo Wood Impregnation WR beforehand. The coating result depends on the wood quality; therefore, a test coat is recommended, especially on unknown substrates.

Application

Apply with a firm brush, Osmo Flat Brush, or a lint-free cloth (e.g., for garden furniture) along the wood grain onto the clean, dry wood. For quick work on large surfaces, we recommend the Osmo Liquid Floor Brush 150 mm, tailored for terrace boards. Distribute evenly and thoroughly. Let dry for about 12 hours in well-ventilated areas. Then apply a second coat evenly. For a less intense color result, the second coat can be applied with the clear Anti-Slip Terrace Oil. Not applicable for colorless Teak Oil 007.
