Area of application:

Substrate preparation:

• When carrying out sealing work with PCI Pecimor 1K, DIN 18 195 and the "Guideline for the planning and execution of sealing of earth-contact structures with plastic-modified bituminous thick coatings" of the Deutsche Bauchemie e.V. must be observed.
• Suitable substrates include compacted concrete, at least strength class C 12/15, plaster of mortar group C IV in accordance with EN 998-1, masonry constructed in accordance with DIN 1053 from masonry units such as hollow clay bricks, calcium silicate bricks, lightweight concrete and concrete hollow blocks, and aerated concrete.
• The substrate must be solid, largely level and fine-pored at the surface. It must be free from voids, honeycombing, cracks and burrs, dust, tar, pitch, shutter release oil, old coatings or other materials that impair adhesion.
• Layers. The substrate should be dry or at most slightly damp.
• Edges must be broken/rounded.
• Fillets (both horizontal and vertical) must be formed with a rounded finish. For this, form fillets with a radius of at least 4 cm using PCI Polyfix Plus L, PCI Nanocret R2 or PCI Saniment DP.
• In the case of brick basement walls, above all for two-shell construction of the building, the top of the basement wall that is not covered by the basement ceiling must be protected from water ingress before the sealing work begins. This can be done after closing the openings in the wall top with cement mortar, e.g. by smoothing over with PCI Barraseal or PCI Pecimor 1K.
• Above all in the case of brick basements, it is repeatedly the case that during the construction phase the lowest row of stones is completely soaked through by water standing on the ground slab inside the basement. To prevent this impermissible soaking, an intermediate sealing is required using PCI Barraseal or PCI Seccoral: smooth over the transition area between ground slab/basement wall with PCI Barraseal before carrying out the fillet. This smooth-over must be carried out from the end face of the ground slab via the fillet to at least the top edge of the first row of stones. This prevents water acting on the rear side from affecting the PCI Pecimor 1K sealing. Levelling unevenness, sealing mortar pockets, spalls or open butt joints > 5 mm can be carried out by trowelling with PCI Nanocret R2 or by applying plaster, mortar group C IV.
• The materials used for the substrate preparation (e.g. for fillets or intermediate sealing) must be fully cured throughout before the sealing work begins.
