Ready-to-use, water-permeable joint mortar for ceramic coverings, paving, natural stone slabs, and brickwork
Suitable for usage categories N1 and N2 according to ZTV Wegebau
For pointing of old and new paving
For traditional bedding
Easy and efficient application through Easy Clean Technology ECTreg;
Vacuum-packed
Suitable for sweepers
Compressive strength: approx. 15 N/mm2;
Grain size: 0 – 0.5 mm
Substrate
Suitable substrates
Ideally suitable are the water-permeable bedding mortars tubag TDM, TDM plus, or TGM as bound bedding layers
Properties / Tests
The paving surfaces and the corresponding substructure must be constructed so that no loosening of the surface occurs under later loads
Applicable regulations and information sheets for the manufacture of paving surfaces must be observed
The entire structure must be water-permeable to allow infiltrating water to drain away
The minimum joint width required for product installation is 2 mm
For large-format slabs, a minimum of 5 mm or 1% of the longest side of the slab is recommended as joint width
Stone edges must be free of all types of contamination
Required minimum joint depth: 20 mm for bound bedding layers, otherwise 30 mm
Preparation
Prior to jointing, carefully moisten the paving surfaces with a fine water spray to prevent binder penetration into the stone pores
No water should stand in the joints
Application
Temperature
Do not process or allow to dry/set at air, material, and substrate temperatures below 5°C and during expected night frost, as well as above 30°C, direct sunlight, strongly heated substrates, and/or strong wind
For air temperatures > 30°C and strong wind, special measures such as shading should be implemented
Mixing / Preparation / Processing
The product is packaged ready for use
Application / Processing
Cut open vacuum plastic bag and pour onto the well-moistened paving surface
Joint mortar with plenty of water to minimize the risk of staining
For narrow joints, ensure they are filled to full depth. It is recommended to support joint filling with a targeted water jet or to mechanically recompact if necessary. After initial setting, fresh joint mortar can be refilled in layers
Brush off remaining mortar residues on the surface with a soft broom diagonally to the joint direction
For paved surfaces with beveled edges, the joint should only be filled up to the underside of the bevel after cleaning
Until the surface is fully cleaned, the paving must not be allowed to dry completely
Workable Time
Approximately 40 minutes at 20°C and 65% relative humidity
Lower temperatures and high humidity extend, while higher temperatures and low humidity shorten the working time
Drying / Curing
The freshly jointed surface should be protected from frost for 24 hours after application. Heavy rainfall can cause leaching of the joint mortar in the fresh state. Cover the surface with a film if necessary. When using a protective film, ensure adequate ventilation. Do not place the film directly on the surface
The surface is walkable after approximately 24 to 48 hours and can be fully loaded after about 7 days. Time references are based on 20°C and 65% relative humidity
Tool Cleaning
Clean tools and equipment immediately after use with water
Notes
Do not use in permanently wet areas such as swimming pools, fountains, ponds, drainage channels, etc.
Do not use directly around chlorinated pools; recommended: tubag FineLine
Visually continuous slabs should be processed with material from the same manufacturing batch to avoid color differences
Partially used containers must be completely used up. Residual mortar reacts immediately with oxygen and hardens. Further use is no longer possible
After cleaning, any remaining gloss on the surface will fade over time
Particularly light and open-porous stone types may cause binder effects such as darkening
To assess the optimal appearance, it is recommended to create a test surface with the selected paving
Over time, color changes may occur due to dirt and weathering
Paving and slab coverings made of concrete, natural stone, and ceramic/porcelain are maintenance coverings. Depending on exposure, slabs may moss or algae, which can impair the functionality of the joint mortar, leading to loss of strength and reduced water permeability. Regular cleaning with a surfactant-based moss remover, e.g., Lithofin ALLEX, is recommended
