Substrate Preparation

The substrate must be clean, dry, solid, load-bearing, free of fats, old coatings, and other residues. Remove heavy contamination, oils, and wax residues mechanically or with PCI Degreaser. The surface must not have rising moisture; if necessary, determine concrete moisture with a CM device. The substrate may only be coated if residual moisture is less than 4%. Exposed areas in the substrate must be compensated with PCI Construction Mortar. Mortar mixtures should be adjusted according to the depth of exposure.

Priming

Apply primer to the substrate and allow to dry. If immediate application is not possible, broadcast the primer with dry, fire-dried quartz sand (0.2 mm to 0.7 mm, approx. 500 g) loosely. After curing, remove any loose sand.

Preparation of PCI Construction Resin Base and Hardener

Pour the component in the correct mixing ratio into a forced mixer and mix for 1 minute. For smaller quantities, suitable mixers such as those from Collomix can be used as attachments on a slow-running, infinitely adjustable drill (approx. 300 rpm). Scrape off residues from the container edges and bottom into the mixture and mix again.

Pour the mixed PCI Construction Resin portion-wise onto the substrate and work into the surface with a roller, brush, or trowel. Process the resin within 30 minutes of mixing; these times apply at a substrate temperature of 23°C.

Apply the fresh primer with the mortar and process immediately. If not possible, broadcast the primer with dry, fire-dried quartz sand (0.2 mm to 0.7 mm, approx. 500 g) loosely. After curing, remove any loose sand.

Mortar Application

Mix the base and hardener components in the correct ratio in a forced mixer and mix for 1 minute. For smaller quantities, use suitable mixers such as those from Collomix as attachments on a slow-running, infinitely adjustable drill (approx. 300 rpm). Add various quartz sand mixtures according to the application area and mix intensively for another 2 minutes.

Apply the mortar into the still fresh or sanded primer, distribute with a straightedge, and smooth or tamp with a steel or plastic float, or a suitable trowel (e.g., from Schwamborn).

After 16 to 48 hours, a sealing coat of PCI Construction Resin or PCI Supracolor (matte, colored) can be applied to the installed screed.
