Application Area
- For building purposes
- Suitable for indoor and outdoor use
- Manufacturing highly wear-resistant and chemical-resistant screeds on concrete and cement screeds
- For industry and hall floors, workshops, and animal stalls with high mechanical and/or chemical stress
- In breweries, dairies, and other wet areas
- For mortar repairs and underlayments
- For waterproof monolithic mortar for setting curb stones
- For repairing concrete structures and slab coverings and transitions
Substrate Preparation
The substrate must be clean, dry, solid, load-bearing, free of fats, old coatings, and other residues. Remove heavy contamination, grease, and wax residues mechanically or with PCI Degreaser. The surface must have a minimum abrasion resistance of 15 N/mm, with a minimum individual value of 10 N/mm. The surface should be pretreated by sandblasting or shot blasting (Blastrac). Do not apply on rising damp from the substrate. If necessary, determine the moisture content of the concrete with a CM device. The substrate may only be coated if the residual moisture is less than 4%. Any cracks in the substrate should be filled with PCI Construction Mortar. Substrate must be dry, sound, and free of loose particles before application.
Cracks in the substrate should be compensated with PCI Construction Mortar, mixed according to the depth of the cracks. Primer
Apply the primer to the prepared surface and process immediately. If not possible immediately, broadcast the primer with dry, fire-dried quartz sand (0.2–0.7 mm, approx. 500 g/m²). After curing, remove loose sand.
Mixing PCI Construction Resin Base and Hardener
Pour the components in the correct mixing ratio into a forced mixer and mix for 1 minute. For smaller quantities, use stirrers such as those from Collomix, attached to a slow-running, infinitely adjustable drill (approx. 300 rpm). Scrape residual material from the container edges and bottom into the mixture and mix again. Portion-wise, pour the mixed PCI Construction Resin onto the substrate and work into the surface with a roller or trowel. Process PCI Construction Resin within 30 minutes of mixing. The times are valid for a substrate temperature of 23°C.
Apply the freshly mixed resin mortar onto the primed surface. If immediate application is not possible, broadcast the primer with dry, fire-dried quartz sand (0.2–0.7 mm, approx. 500 g/m²). After curing, remove loose sand.
Application of PCI Construction Resin Mortar
Mix the base and hardener components in the correct ratio in a forced mixer and mix for 1 minute. For smaller quantities, use stirrers such as those from Collomix, attached to a slow-running, infinitely adjustable drill (approx. 300 rpm). Add the various quartz sand mixtures according to the application area and mix intensively for another 2 minutes. The mortar is applied into the still fresh or sanded primer, distributed with a straightedge, and compacted. Use steel or plastic trowels or suitable float trowels (e.g., from Schwamborn).
After 16 to 48 hours, a surface sealing with PCI Construction Resin or PCI Supracolor (matte, colored) can be applied to the installed screed.
