Substrate preparation

Immediately after laying the tiles, scrape the joints evenly and deeply to the tile thickness and clean thoroughly. Allow the adhesive or laying mortar to cure.

Processing PCI Nanofug Premium

Mixing water: see mixing ratio in a clean container, add PCI Nanofug Premium, and immediately knead to a homogeneous, lump-free mortar using a suitable stir or mixing tool, e.g., from Collomix, attached to a drill. After a curing time of approximately 3 minutes, knead again. Apply the joint mortar with PCI rubber jointing disc and allow to set. Optionally, rework with PCI Nanofug Premium thoroughly. After sufficient setting, perform a finger test with a slightly damp, stable sponge or sponge board. After drying, remove any remaining mortar residue with a slightly damp sponge.

Important notes

• Do not process at substrate temperatures below 5°C or above 25°C, or in direct sunlight and draughts.
• Lower temperatures shorten, and lower temperatures extend the processing time. Protect freshly grouted surfaces from sunlight and strong draughts.
• During grouting and curing, at least 24 hours must pass with the underfloor heating turned off if present.
• If a white film remains on the ceramic surface after drying, it can be removed after 2 to 3 days with a cement film remover. Thoroughly clean the joints and surface beforehand and rinse thoroughly with plenty of water after cleaning.
• Intensive use of highly alkaline cleaners or prolonged exposure to cement-aggressive media can attack the grout. Clean the joints thoroughly before cleaning and rinse with plenty of water afterward.
• When grouting slip-resistant or textured floors, carefully remove the residual film while still fresh. Conduct a test grouting or cleaning beforehand.
• For polished fine stoneware, color pigments may settle in the micro-pores of the surface. Avoid strong color contrast between tile and joint. Conduct a test grouting if unsure.
• When grouting sharp-edged tiles, it is recommended to use the jointing fleece, see brochure "Work and advertising material for the tiler trade".
• For black color, increased cleaning effort may be required.
• Before grouting, secure edge joints and movement joints by inserting styrofoam strips or foam profiles. Remove protective strips before elastic grouting. Grout joints between tiles, fixtures, and pipe penetrations, as well as corner and connection joints, elastically with PCI Silcofug E or PCI Silcoferm S, and on facades with PCI Elritan 100.
• Use only grout with the same batch number on the same project.
• Mixing PCI Nanofug Premium with quartz sand can alter the original color tone.
