Areas of use:
- For interior and exterior use.
- For walls and floors.
- For joint widths of 1 - 10 mm.
- For all ceramic tiles, glass mosaics and glass tiles.
- For all natural stones.
- In living areas, in bathrooms, showers, on balconies, terraces, and on façades. In public and commercial areas with heavy wet exposure, e.g. shower systems, saunas, toilet facilities. In sales and display areas.
- On heated screeds, dry screeds, prefabricated concrete elements, plasterboard, gypsum partition panels, chipboard, wooden floor boards and in areas with strong temperature fluctuations.
Preparation of the substrate:
Scratch out the joints immediately after setting the tiles to the same depth as the tile thickness and clean thoroughly.
Allow the bedding or setting mortar to harden.
Application of PCI Nanofug Premium:
- Fill a clean working vessel with mixing water (see mixing ratio). Add PCI Nanofug Premium and mix immediately to a plastic, lump-free mortar using a suitable mixing or stirring tool (e.g. from the company Collomix) as an attachment on a drill.
- After a maturation time of approx. 3 minutes, remix again.
- Work the jointing mortar into the joints using a PCI rubber jointing float and allow to take up. If necessary, apply a second levelling coat with PCI Nanofug Premium in order to make it flush. After sufficient setting (finger test), clean again using a slightly damp, firm sponge or sponge board.
- After drying, remove the remaining mortar haze with a slightly damp sponge.
Please note:
- Do not apply at substrate temperatures below + 5 °C or above + 25 °C, or when exposed to direct heat, moisture and draughts.
- Higher temperatures reduce, lower temperatures increase the working time. Protect freshly jointed surfaces in exterior applications from direct sunlight and strong draughts.
- During jointing and while curing (at least 24 hours), any underfloor heating system must be switched off.
- If, after drying, a white haze remains on the ceramic surface, it can be removed after 2 to 3 days using a cement haze remover. Beforehand, pre-wet the joints and the surface thoroughly and after cleaning rinse thoroughly with plenty of water.
- With frequent and intensive use, or if acidic cleaners and/or prolonged exposure to cement-attack media are present, the joint may be affected. Before cleaning, the joints should be thoroughly pre-wet and then rinsed with plenty of water.
- When jointing slip-resistant or surface-rough floor coverings, any remaining haze must still be removed carefully while still fresh (carry out a test jointing and/or test cleaning).
- With polished porcelain stoneware, colour pigments may settle in any micro-pores in the tile surface. For this reason, it is advisable to avoid a strong colour contrast between tile and joint. When in doubt, carry out a test joint.
- When jointing sharp-edged tiles, it is recommended for washing to use the joint fleece (see brochure "Work and promotional material for the specialist tiler trade").
- When using the colour black, increased cleaning effort should be expected.
- Before jointing, secure perimeter and movement joints by inserting strips of polystyrene or foam profiles. Remove the protective strips before elastic jointing. Seal joints between tile areas, built-in components and pipe penetrations, as well as corner and perimeter joints elastically with PCI Silcofug E or PCI Silcoferm S; on the façade with PCI Elritan 100.
- For the same project, use jointing mortar from the same batch number wherever possible.
- By mixing PCI Nanofug Premium with quartz sand, the original shade may change.
