Product Properties

• Provides a waterproof seal for basins and rooms, offering permanent protection against heating oil EL. Contains 0.5% biological content and transformer oils.
• Crack-bridging, capable of covering cracks up to 0.2 mm width in the substrate.
• Easy to clean; spilled heating oil EL or transformer oils can be effortlessly vacuumed or wiped off from the PCI Visconal coating without residue.
• Temperature resistant, suitable for universal use in indoor catch basins.
• Officially tested according to the principles of construction and testing standards for water protection coatings of the German Institute for Building Technology Berlin, from the Institute for Structural Engineering and Building Materials Technology of the Karlsruhe University.

Substrate Preparation

• Settlement and shrinkage cracks in the walls and floors of catch basins and rooms must be prevented through constructive measures.
• Expansion joints in catch basins are not permitted. If expansion joints are present, please request separate consultation.
• Water exposure on the back of the coating must be avoided; seal as necessary. DIN 18 195 Building waterproofing, design and execution, applies.
• Concrete, plaster, and screed surfaces must be at least 28 days old, dry, load-bearing, and free of defects. The substrate must be firm, rough, and fine-pored on the surface. It must be free of nests, cavities, cracks, burrs, dust, tar, pitch, old coatings, or other adhesion-disrupting layers. Edges should be broken.
• The substrate must not powder or sand. Plaster and screed must adhere firmly to the supporting components or enclosing walls and the floor. The surface must not be troweled with a steel trowel but rubbed with a wooden board.
• Application of cement powder is not permitted. Masonry and concrete surfaces that do not meet these conditions must be coated with a firmly adhering cement plaster.
• Pipe penetrations below the maximum permissible water level and movement joints are not allowed.
• Only when the above structural conditions are met can the coating be applied.
• The surface must be cleaned by the applicator before applying the coating.

Pre-treatment

• Mechanical cleaning with a stiff broom, steel brush, or industrial vacuum cleaner. If defects are present, they can be repaired using PCI construction materials such as PCI Pecihaft, PCI Legaran RP repair mortar, PCI Nanocret R4/R2 concrete filler, PCI Nanocret FC, PCI RepaMent, or PCI Periplan in the floor area.
• Interior corners should be formed as fillets with PCI RepaFix.

Application of PCI Visconal

To achieve a watertight coating, at least one primer and two top coats are required. To make the number of coats visible, the second and subsequent coats should be applied so that a strip of 1 cm width from the previous coat remains visible on the walls.

Each coat must be applied pore-free and sealed, and must dry thoroughly.

Primer

PCI Visconal gray, diluted with 50% water by volume 2:1, and thoroughly brushed into the substrate.

The primer coat must dry for at least 8 hours at 23°C.

Coating

• The first top coat should be applied with undiluted PCI Visconal red in a brush application on the primed surface. Allow at least 8 hours to dry.
• After drying, apply the second top coat with undiluted PCI Visconal gray.
• After at least 7 days, the coating is fully dried and load-bearing.
