Application and Function:
Schluuml;terDITRAHEAT is a polypropylene membrane with a recessed studded structure, equipped on the back with a fleece carrier. It serves as a universal substrate for tile coverings as an uncoupling layer, waterproofing, vapor pressure equalization layer, and is designed to accommodate heating cables.
Schluuml;terDITRAHEATDUO is equipped on the back with a 2 mm thick special fleece carrier, which, in addition to anchoring in the tile adhesive, also reduces impact sound and enables faster heating behavior.
The substrate on which Schluuml;terDITRAHEAT is installed must be level and load-bearing. For bonding Schluuml;terDITRAHEAT, a thin-bed mortar suitable for the substrate is applied with a notched trowel, recommended 6 x 6 mm. The Schluuml;terDITRAHEAT is fully bonded with the fleece side down, with the fleece mechanically anchored in the adhesive. The open time of the adhesive must be observed. In floor areas, the heating cables can be laid immediately after bonding with a minimum distance of 9 cm every 3 studs 136 W/m.
In wall areas, the heating cables are laid after achieving sufficient adhesion. The spacing can be chosen between 6 cm every 2 studs 200 W/m and 9 cm every 3 studs 136 W/m. The tile covering is installed according to applicable standards, directly on Schluuml;terDITRAHEAT using a thin-bed method, with the mortar anchoring into the recessed studded structure of the Schluuml;terDITRAHEAT mat.
Schluuml;terDITRAHEAT has, according to a German-approved certification, an abP general building authority test certificate and is marked with a CE symbol. Moisture exposure class according to abP: 0 B0 and A. Schluuml;terDITRAHEAT also has, according to ETAG 022, a European Technical Assessment (ETA) for bonded waterproofing and is marked with a CE mark. Moisture exposure class according to ETAG 022: A.
With the cable tester Schluuml;terDITRAHEAT ECT, measurements and checks of the resistance of the electrical heating cables Schluuml;terDITRAHEAT and the remote sensors supplied with the Schluuml;terDITRAHEAT controllers can be performed. Throughout the installation process, the tester monitors the resistance of the heating cables. In case of damage, the operator is alerted by an acoustic signal.
Summary of functions:
a. Decoupling
Schluuml;terDITRAHEAT decouples the covering from the substrate, neutralizing tensions between substrate and tile covering resulting from different dimensional changes. It also bridges tension cracks from the substrate and prevents them from transferring into the tile covering.
b. Waterproofing
Schluuml;terDITRAHEAT is a waterproof polypropylene membrane with relatively high vapor diffusion resistance. When properly installed at joints, wall connections, and penetrations, it can create a tested bonded waterproofing system in conjunction with the tile covering. For areas where CE conformity or compliance with the abP general building authority test certificate is required, only system-tested thin-bed mortars should be used. Schluuml;terDITRAHEAT protects the substructure from damage caused by penetrating moisture and aggressive substances.
c. Load distribution and load transfer
Schluuml;terDITRAHEAT transmits traffic loads acting on the tile covering directly into the substrate via the dimpled structure filled with thin-bed mortar. This makes the tiles installed on Schluuml;terDITRAHEAT highly loadable. The notes and tile thicknesses according to the valid ZDB leaflet for high mechanically durable ceramic floor coverings must be observed. In heavily loaded areas, tiles must be fully embedded. It should be noted that the contact area of Schluuml;terDITRAHEAT covers approximately 50% of the total surface, which may reduce the pressure resistance under high point loads. Schluuml;terDITRAHEATDUO, with a 2 mm thick special fleece on the back, is suitable for traffic loads up to 3 kN/m. This includes private and light commercial areas, residential buildings, offices, restaurants, hotels, conference rooms, stations, and hospital rooms. Both Schluuml;terDITRAHEAT and Schluuml;terDITRAHEATDUO should avoid impact loads with hard objects on ceramic coverings. Tile formats should be at least 5 x 5 cm.
d. Bond strength
Schluuml;terDITRAHEAT ensures good bond strength of the tile covering to the substrate through the anchoring of the fleece in the thin-bed mortar and the mechanical anchoring of the mortar into the recessed studded structure.
e. Thermal separation
Schluuml;terDITRAHEATDUO is equipped on the back with a 2 mm thick special fleece that, besides anchoring in the tile adhesive, also reduces impact sound and enables faster heating behavior.
f. Impact sound insulation
For Schluuml;terDITRAHEATDUO, an impact sound improvement measure of LW 13 dB was determined in the installed state according to DIN EN ISO 10140. The actual improvement depends on the specific construction and site conditions and may differ from this value. Therefore, the measured test values cannot be transferred to every construction situation.
