ARDEX FB Resin

Application Area:

• Gluing, swelling, and form-fitting bonding of cracks and false joints cut into screeds, including heated screeds and other substrates
• Adhesion bridges between substrate and fresh mortar, old and new concrete
• For exterior and interior use

Type:

• ARDEX FB Resin consists of the gray epoxy resin component F and the clear hardener component B
• For processing, the two components, which are proportionally matched, are thoroughly mixed
• Processing time: approximately 90 minutes at temperatures from 18°C to 20°C
• Mechanical load capacity: after approximately 24 hours

Processing:

• Pour the hardener component B into the container with the resin component F and mix thoroughly with a wooden stick until streak-free. ARDEX FB Resin is processable for about 90 minutes within the temperature range of 18°C to 20°C. Lower temperatures extend, higher temperatures shorten the processing time.
• Expand cracks and false joints in the substrate or screed by cutting, then vacuum or blow off dust, and if necessary, secure by inserting reinforcement steel bars across the crack with ARDEX FB Resin.
• Drill fine cracks up to 2/3 of the screed thickness and fill cracks and drill holes with ARDEX FB Resin. Ensure that the direction of the drill holes follows the crack's course with a minimum diameter of 12 mm, and clean the hole walls of dust before filling with ARDEX FB Resin. The dowels should be placed at a distance of approximately 10 cm if necessary. Cracks and drill holes filled with ARDEX FB Resin should be held in place.
• For cracks wider than 5 mm and larger breakouts over 15 mm, ARDEX FB Resin can be filled with quartz sand or powder from substrate smoothing compounds or screed mortars to reduce viscosity. Fresh repair areas are sprinkled with quartz sand to achieve adhesion bridges.
• As an adhesion bridge between old and new concrete or substrate and fresh screed mortar, ARDEX FB Resin is applied in a thin layer with a spatula on the substrate. The fresh mortar is incorporated into the fresh ARDEX FB Resin layer.
• The substrate can be moist or dry but must be firm and free of wax, oil, dust, and other separating agents.
• Perform trial work in case of doubt.
• ARDEX FB Resin should be processed at temperatures above 5°C.
