Application Area
Knauf Goldband is used for creating smooth, textured, or scraped surfaces on interior walls. It serves as a base plaster for all types of masonry and load-bearing plaster substrates. Suitable for use from basement to roof in all rooms with typical humidity levels, including kitchens and bathrooms with household use, e.g., toilets in schools, hotel and hospital bathrooms, and care homes.
It is also used for producing surface finishes in quality levels Q1 to Q4, smoothed and Q1 to Q3 scraped, Q4 smoothed in conjunction with Knauf Multifinish or Readygips. Refer to the leaflet "Interior Wall Finishes" issued by the Industry Group for Gypsum Plasters of the Federal Association of Gypsum Industry and the Federal Association for Interior and Facade Construction of the Central Association of German Construction Industry.
Substrate
- For subsequent paints or wallpapers
- As a tile substrate
- As a base for surface plaster
Execution
To produce smoothed surfaces, apply the material with a trowel or plastering board, distributing it evenly with a trowel or float. After initial setting, smooth with a trapezoidal float and align corners. If necessary, rework with a plastering spatula. After moistening the surface with a sponge disc to create a matte finish and level small irregularities, allow the plaster to partially set, then smooth with a plastering spatula or trowel.
Preparation
Ideal for renovation or small areas. We differentiate between bonding plaster with special adhesion properties and ready-mixed plaster for masonry. Both materials are supplied in bags and are manually applied.
Plaster Application
After mixing, apply the mortar with a trowel or pull it on with a plastering board, ensuring full adhesion by pressing firmly against the substrate. Subsequently, level the plaster with a trowel or float, distributing it evenly and flush.
Finishing
As the plaster stiffens, it may be smoothed with a trowel or float, closing pores and small imperfections. For creating a smoothed surface, the plaster is then worked with a plastering spatula or float. If a textured or ceramic tile finish is desired, the surface should only be scraped.
Surface Finishing
Once the plaster begins to stiffen, it can be smoothed with a trowel or float, sealing pores and small defects. The surface can then be textured or left smooth, depending on the desired finish.
