  • For all formats of ceramic and natural stone cladding
  • On moisture-sensitive, absorbent substrates, e.g., chipboard, OSB boards, magnesite screeds, gypsum fiberboards, anhydrite screeds, or gypsum screeds
  • On mineral, absorbent substrates, e.g., concrete, screed, and self-leveling compounds, e.g., PCI Periplan
  • On mineral, non-absorbent substrates, e.g., old ceramic coverings, cast asphalt screeds (interior only)
  • On liquid floor heating systems
  • On young cement screeds, minimum quality CT F4, once they are walkable and sufficiently load-bearing
  • On anhydrite screeds with residual moisture less than 2%, measured with CM device, when installing ceramic and natural stone coverings
  • In dry interior areas, also suitable under 2 and 3-layer parquet elements with tongue and groove, approved by parquet manufacturer for full-surface bonding, on calcium sulfate anhydrite screeds with residual moisture less than 15%, measured with CM device, when installing parquet with SMP parquet adhesive PCI PAR 365 in system with calcium sulfate screeds from CASEA GmbH and Knauf Gips KG

Substrate Preparation

Substrate preparation before laying ceramic and natural stone coverings

  • The substrate must be firm, clean, and load-bearing. Remove all stains, surfaces, and contaminants that reduce adhesion completely.
  • The base must be even; screeds must comply with DIN 18560 and be suitable for laying ceramic or natural stone coverings.
  • Highly absorbent cement substrates should be primed with PCI Gisogrund 1, diluted with water.
  • Sanded anhydrite or gypsum liquid screeds, gypsum-bound screed elements, and cast asphalt screeds should be primed with PCI Gisogrund undiluted.
  • For time-sensitive work, cementitious and gypsum-containing substrates should be primed with PCI Gisogrund Rapid. Allow the primer to dry.
  • Anhydrite or gypsum liquid screeds must not have more than 2% residual moisture, measured with CM device.
  • To prevent sound bridges, prior to laying PCI Pecilastic U, the joint in the wall-floor transition area and around pillars should be reworked with the self-adhesive edge strip PCI Pecitape Silent.

Old floor coverings

  • If old coverings such as carpets, PVC, or linoleum are to be replaced with ceramic or natural stone coverings, the old coverings must be removed, and loose adhesive residues must be thoroughly cleaned.
  • The cleaned surface, including residual adhesive, should be fully coated with PCI Gisogrund. After drying, any cavities, holes, or wide cracks should be filled with PCI Nanocret FC (1–10 mm) or PCI Nanocret R2 (3–100 mm). If necessary, remaining unevenness can be leveled with PCI Periplan.
  • Before laying PCI Pecilastic U membranes, the floor must be even.

Old ceramic, stone, or natural stone coverings

  • For the installation of PCI Pecilastic U on old ceramic or natural stone coverings, the adhesion of the old covering must be secure. Hollow tiles must be removed, and gaps filled with PCI Rapidflott or PCI Nanocret R2.
  • Large areas should be primed with PCI Gisogrund 404 and leveled with PCI Periplan.

Old wooden floors

  • The wooden construction must be sufficiently load-bearing, vibration-free, and free of swelling. Boards should be re-screwed as needed.
  • Uneven boards should be leveled by injecting PCI Adaptol into the joints and waiting approximately 1 hour for a firm surface.
  • The floor should be primed twice with PCI Gisogrund 404, diluted with water. Allow drying, then level with PCI Periplan Extra. The subsequent work can be carried out the following day.

Installation of wood chipboard or OSB boards on old wooden floors

  • Unevenness in the floor should be leveled as described above. Wood chipboards or OSB boards are screwed offset, with a maximum screw spacing of 40 cm, and glued.
  • The boards should be primed with PCI Wadian. Allow the primer to dry.

Substrate preparation before laying parquet with MPParkett adhesive PCI PAR 365 in system with PCI Pecilastic U on moist calcium sulfate anhydrite screeds

  • The screeds must meet DIN 18560 and be suitable for parquet installation.
  • Approved screeds include those with residual moisture up to 15% CM, from CASEA GmbH and Knauf Gipswerke KG.
  • All calcium sulfate liquid screeds must be clean, free of stains, fats, and other adhesion-reducing residues, load-bearing, even, and free of continuous moving cracks. Hairline cracks do not require special treatment when using PCI Pecilastic U.
  • Any remaining paint, adhesive, filler, or loose surface layers should be sanded and thoroughly vacuumed.
  • The residual moisture of calcium sulfate screeds may be up to 15%, measured with a CM device.
  • Calcium sulfate anhydrite screeds must be sanded and carefully vacuumed with a powerful industrial vacuum cleaner.
  • No primer is required before applying PCI PAR 365 on prepared substrates, only bonding of PCI Pecilastic U.
  • Directly under SMP parquet adhesive PCI PAR 365, dispersive primers should not be used due to possible interactions with the adhesive.

Processing

  • Lay out PCI Pecilastic U membranes and cut with a utility knife or scissors.
  • Apply PCI Flexmörtel S1 or PCI Flexmörtel S1 Rapid, PCI Nanolight, or PCI Nanoflott light to the prepared substrate with a 4 mm or 6 mm notched trowel, following technical guidelines.
  • For anhydrite screeds with residual moisture between 0.5% and 2%, PCI PAR 365 can be used without primer or with PCI Lastogum (pre-primed with PCI Gisogrund). Apply PCI Lastogum either thickly or with a 4 mm notched trowel.
  • Within the open time of the adhesive, approximately 30 minutes for PCI Flexmörtel, PCI Nanolight, and PCI Nanoflott light, and about 20 minutes for PCI Flexmörtel Schnell, lay and press the PCI Pecilastic U membranes with the orange fleece facing up.
  • In dry areas, seal overlaps with adhesive tape (e.g., Tesakrepp, 20 mm wide).
  • In wet areas or exterior, seal overlaps, corner joints, and floor-wall joints with PCI Pecitape 120, sealing with PCI Pecitape and PCI Seccoral 1K2K Rapid on PCI Pecilastic U and wall connections.
  • In case of final bonding, seal the joint strips PCI Pecitape 120 or PCI Pecitape IA 90 with PCI Apoflex or PCI Durapox NT NT Plus.
  • After the curing of the joint mortar (approx. 12 hours for PCI Flexmörtel S1, PCI Nanolight, PCI Nanoflott light; approx. 3 hours for PCI Flexmörtel S1 Rapid), the top layer can be installed.

Elastic Grouting

For joint arrangements, the relevant guidelines of the Central Association of the German Construction Industry apply. In exterior areas, joint lengths with 5 m edge length should not be exceeded. Movement and expansion joints should be sealed with PCI Silcoferm S for ceramic coverings and PCI Carraferm elastically for natural stone coverings.

Processing when bonding multilayer parquet with PCI PAR 365 in system with PCI Pecilastic U on moist calcium sulfate anhydrite screeds

  • The screeds must meet DIN 18560 and be suitable for full-surface bonding of parquet.
  • Approved screeds include those with residual moisture up to 15% CM from CASEA GmbH and Knauf Gipswerke KG.
  • Approved parquet types are all 2- and 3-layer parquet elements approved by the manufacturer for full-surface bonding.
  • Use PCI PAR 365, a suitable parquet adhesive. The maximum surface size of this system is 50 m per room.
  • Lay out PCI Pecilastic U membranes and cut with a utility knife or scissors.
  • Apply SMP parquet adhesive PCI PAR 365 fully covering or, depending on room size, with a spatula notch B 3 according to TKB, within the working time of approximately 45 minutes.
  • Place pre-cut PCI Pecilastic U membranes into the adhesive bed, fully embed, and press with a cork board or similar.
  • Seal overlaps with adhesive tape.
  • Once the adhesive has sufficiently cured (about 24 hours at 23°C and 50% relative humidity), the parquet elements can be bonded onto the PCI Pecilastic U membranes with PCI PAR 365.
  • The distance to wall and other protruding elements must be at least 15 mm. To measure residual moisture under PCI Pecilastic U, no sealing of edge joints or skirting boards is permitted in the edge areas.

Important Note: Individual sections are excluded from exchange or return.
