Product Description
vdw 400 plus Color is a cement-based, synthetic polymer-modified, fast-setting joint mortar for the pointing of natural and concrete stone paving for indoor and outdoor areas, suitable for light to heavy traffic loads. vdw 400 plus Color can be used, for example, for paving terraces and garage entrances, as well as joint mortar for street paving. High frost resistance, chemical resistance, and self-compacting properties are included. The mortar has a compressive strength of approximately 50 N/mm², is environmentally friendly, and has been tested according to MPA standards.
Processing Requirements

Preparation
Secure loose stones and channel inlets against ingress of joint material. Clean the surface to be jointed thoroughly, removing loose components from joints and stone edges.
Test Surface
Cement-based joint mortars are subject to natural aging. To counteract this, the products are set to cure faster from the factory, ensuring processability throughout the entire shelf life. Therefore, the reaction speed should be checked before jointing. Contact between vdw 400 plus Color and the stone surface of natural and concrete stone paving can cause visual changes such as darkening and/or staining. It is generally recommended to create a test surface.
Preliminary
Pre-wet surfaces. For natural stones with rough surfaces, concrete stones, or absorbent paving stones, pre-wet the surface very thoroughly before applying vdw 400 plus Color. Standing water in joints must be avoided.
Mixing the Mortar
In a clean mixing container, add approximately 45-50 L of water per 25 kg bag, then add vdw 400 plus Color and mix for about 2 minutes to achieve a homogeneous, lump-free mortar.
Filling the Joints
Apply the mortar onto the surface and pull it fully into the joints with a rubber trowel, working intensively into the joints. Fill the joints so that the cross-section is completely filled. Remove excess mortar with the rubber trowel.

Attention
Avoid excessive lifting of the joint material on the stone surface. After sufficient curing time, perform a joint pressure test approximately 25 minutes after application at 20°C. Clean the surface diagonally to the joint cross-section with a pressure washer, scrubber, spray nozzle, or bucket nozzle without washing out the joints. Finally, rinse the stone surface thoroughly with a spray jet. After 4-6 hours, the joints are walkable. After approximately 48 hours, they can be driven over with a car and are fully loadable after 7 days.
