Prerequisites:
Substructure and load-bearing layer must be sufficiently level, load-bearing, and water-draining. They must be designed to prevent harmful deformations. Mixing vdw 470 GaLaDrain Mortar:
vdw 470 GaLaDrain Mortar with 8% clean, cold water, 2.0 liters of water per 25 kg of dry mortar, mix until homogeneous to a soil-moist consistency. No maturation time required. Hardened mortar must not be reprocessed with water or fresh mortar.

Mortar application:
The prepared mortar is applied in the usual manner. Only as much material should be prepared as can be processed within the working time. The layer thickness must be at least 4 cm, max 10 cm in a compacted state, depending on the application area or construction method, e.g., for paving stones, firmly set in vdw 470 GaLaDrain Mortar. For better adhesion, it is recommended to dip the paving stones in vdw 495 Universal HaftBrücke before jointing. After 48 hours, the joints can be grouted with vdw paving joint mortar. For slab installation, vdw 470 GaLaDrain Mortar should be applied in a level manner, respecting the respective bedding thickness.

Alternative application, only for areas with foot traffic:
The mortar is directly poured from the bag in an appropriate layer thickness and leveled off. Subsequently, activate the area with a water spray mist. For improved adhesion, it is recommended to dip the paving stones in vdw 495 Universal HaftBrücke before laying. Before laying slabs, apply vdw 495 Universal HaftBrücke to the underside of the slabs. The joint area must be free of vdw 495 Universal HaftBrücke. After completing the surface, thoroughly wet the surface with water. This allows water to penetrate the joints into the bedding layer and activates hardening.

Important: The mortar must be protected from rapid drying and from rain for at least 12 hours. Cover the freshly laid surface for at least 48 hours. After 24 hours, the surfaces are ready for grouting. Fully loadable after 7 days with a car, and fully loadable after 14 days.

For constructions on drain mats with open surface finishes, e.g., balconies & roof terraces, the bedding mortar must be completely dry before grouting, as otherwise leaching from the bedding layer can cause efflorescence on open surface areas or drainage facilities. Adequate drying is only guaranteed after at least 3 days.
