Application:
Preparation
Check plaster substrate according to VOB Part C, DIN 18363, Part 3. All substrates must be load-bearing, dry, flat, free of grease and dust, and free of adhesion-reducing residues. Remove any sinter layer. Protect sensitive components from dirt according to the leaflet "Masking and covering work for painters and plasterers" published by the Federal Association for Interior Finishing and Facade. Repair larger defects with a gypsum filler/putty, e.g., MultiFinish/Rotband Haftputz, and allow to dry thoroughly. Pre-treat tile substrates with Knauf Spezialhaftgrund.
Mixing
Rotband Reno is ready for use and applied manually with a trowel. Stir the material if necessary before use. To adjust properties, the material can be mixed with up to 1 % clean water, e.g., 200 ml water per 20 kg Rotband Reno. Use thinned fillers promptly.
Application
Apply Rotband Reno in a thickness of up to 3 mm onto surfaces using rust-free tools. For particularly smooth surfaces, perform a thin re-sanding with fresh material after hardening and drying. If multiple layers are applied, the total maximum layer thickness is 5 mm.
Surface reinforcement
Apply the material onto the substrate, ensuring no defects and laying only one strip at a time. Immediately embed the fleece after application. When embedding, ensure the fleece is fully embedded, e.g., with a plastic trowel, roller, or spatula. The layer thickness beneath the fleece must not be less than 1 mm after embedding. If a second layer of filler is to be applied over the fleece, e.g., with glass fleece, it may only be applied after the primary layer has fully dried. The application is again performed with rust-free tools. Finally, smooth or trowel the filler with a flat trowel without pressure. After complete drying, the surface can be sanded as needed.
Cleaning
Tools and containers should be cleaned immediately after use with water. Processing time and drying
Material hardens through drying. Open time after application: approximately 20 minutes, depending on substrate, layer thickness, and room temperature.
Processing temperature/climate
Do not process at room and/or substrate temperatures below 10°C. Protect freshly applied filler from frost until fully dried and cured.
Coatings and Coverings
Before further coating and covering, surfaces filled with Rotband Reno must always be pretreated and primed, following BVG leaflet No. 6 "Pre-treatment of dry construction panels made of gypsum boards" for further surface coating or covering. Only adhesives based on methylcellulose according to BFSMerkblatt No. 16, Technical Guidelines for Wallpapering and Bonding Work, Frankfurt/Main, issued by the Federal Committee for Color and Material Protection, should be used. After wallpapering paper and glass fiber wallpapers, as well as applying synthetic resin and cellulose plasters, ensure adequate ventilation for quick drying. Rotband Reno is not suitable as a substrate for tiles.
