Substrate preparation

The substrate must be solid, clean, and load-bearing. Remove surfaces that reduce adhesion, such as waterproof adhesive residues, cement adhesive layers, and contaminants, thoroughly. Newly installed cement screeds must not exceed 4% residual moisture content, and sanded anhydrite or gypsum screeds must not exceed 0.5%, measured with a CM device.

Application

• Priming and consolidating gypsum substrates, anhydrite, cast asphalt, and stone wood screeds, as well as old adhesive residues, are not suitable for water-soluble adhesives, e.g., sulfite release adhesives.
• Thoroughly shake PCI Gisogrund before use, e.g., with a surface roller, brush, broom, or roller applicator, undiluted, and apply evenly to the substrate. Avoid foam formation.
• Check consolidation and drying by a scratch test. Only after drying, apply tile adhesive, wallpaper, paint, plaster, or leveling compounds such as PCI Periplan or PCI Periplan Fein.
• Priming and consolidating porous mineral substrates, e.g., concrete, cement screeds, lime-cement plasters, porous concrete, lime sand bricks, etc., thoroughly shake PCI Gisogrund, dilute with water in a ratio of 1:1, and mix thoroughly.
• Apply the diluted PCI Gisogrund evenly to the substrate using a roller, brush, broom, or roller applicator.
• For highly absorbent substrates, a second application with PCI Gisogrund diluted 1:1 with water is recommended for increased consolidation and to prevent blistering during leveling. Apply the second coat only after the first has dried.
• After drying, check adhesion by a scratch test. Only then proceed with tiling, wallpapering, painting, plastering, or applying leveling compounds such as PCI Periplan or PCI Periplan Fein.
