Substrate preparation

• Minimum age of substrate: cement screed older than 3 days once walkable, concrete 28 days, anhydrite and Gips screeds according to CM measurement
• The substrate must be firm, flat, clean, and load-bearing
• Remove surface contaminants that reduce adhesion thoroughly
• The substrate must be flush and plumb according to DIN 18202
• Plaster substrates must be approved by the plaster manufacturer for tile installation and suitable for the intended use
• Use PCI Pericret to level wall surface tolerances, PCI Periplan for uneven concrete surfaces
• Highly absorbent cement substrates and porous concrete should be primed with PCI Gisogrund 1 diluted with water
• Ground anhydrite, Gips, and similar substrates, as well as cast asphalt screeds, should be primed with undiluted PCI Gisogrund; for time-sensitive work, cement and Gips substrates should be primed with PCI Gisogrund Rapid and allowed to dry

Application of PCI Flexmörtel S2

• Preparation of the adhesive mortar
• Mixing water: add to a clean container according to the table, then add powder and mix with suitable stirring or mixing tool attached to a drill until a homogeneous, lump-free mortar is achieved
• Allow PCI Flexmörtel S2 to mature for about 3 minutes, then briefly remix
• First, apply a thin contact layer to the substrate with the smooth side of a trowel, scratching it into the surface
• Then, apply mortar with a notched trowel onto the fresh contact layer
• Apply the adhesive bed in one direction, only as much as can be covered with tiles within the open time
• Check the open time with the finger test
• Set tiles and slabs with a slight sliding motion into the adhesive bed and align
