Application Areas

Substrate Preparation

The substrate must be solid, clean, and load-bearing. Remove surfaces that reduce adhesion, such as waterproof adhesive residues, cement slurry layers, and contaminants, thoroughly. Newly installed cement screeds must not exceed 4% residual moisture content, and sanded anhydrite or gypsum screeds must not exceed 0.5%, measured with CM device.

Application

• Priming and consolidating gypsum substrates, anhydrite, asphalt, and stone wood screeds, as well as old adhesive residues, are not suitable for water-soluble adhesives, e.g., sulfite release adhesives.
• Shake PCI Gisogrund thoroughly before use, especially in stand base bags.
• Apply undiluted with a surface roller, brush, broom, or paint roller evenly onto the substrate, avoiding bubble formation.
• Check consolidation and drying by a scratch test. Only after drying, apply tile adhesive, wallpaper, paint, plaster, or leveling compounds such as PCI Periplan or PCI Periplan Fein.
• Priming and consolidating porous mineral substrates, e.g., concrete, cement screeds, lime-cement plasters, porous concrete, lime sandstone, etc., thoroughly shake PCI Gisogrund, dilute in a ratio of 1:1 with water, and mix thoroughly.
• Apply the diluted PCI Gisogrund evenly with a roller, brush, broom, or paint roller onto the substrate.
• For highly absorbent substrates, a second application with PCI Gisogrund 1:1 diluted with water is recommended for better consolidation and to prevent bubble formation during leveling. Apply the second coat only after the first has dried.
• After drying, check adhesion by a scratch test. Only then proceed with tiling, wallpapering, painting, or applying leveling compounds like PCI Periplan or PCI Periplan Extra.
