SANDROPLAST Bitumen Putty
Type of product:
Plastic, elastic, solvent- and fiber-reinforced repair and sealing compound based on bitumen with a paste-like consistency – asbestos-free
Application area:
sandroplast putty is used for repairing and sealing holes, cracks, and breakage points on bitumen roofing membranes and in the area of waterproofing against ground moisture at penetrations and terminations. sandroplast putty is particularly suitable for sealing cracks, joints, and gaps in components made of concrete, precast concrete, masonry, steel, and hot water pipes, as well as for creating thick barrier layers.
Properties:
sandroplast putty is processed cold, exhibits a highly expanded plastic deformability, and adheres well to bitumen roofing membranes and coatings, substrates made of concrete, plaster, masonry, non-ferrous metals, and steel. The stresses caused by temperature changes or ground movements are largely absorbed and dissipated. Furthermore, the following properties are noteworthy: no running, even under intense sunlight exposure, and no significant impairment of the plastic properties at low temperatures. sandroplast putty is waterproof and resistant to diluted mineral acids, alkalis, salt solutions, and flue gases. The compound also adheres to damp substrates.
sandroplast putty meets the requirements of AIB DS 835 Appendix II Column 10. The material properties become fully effective only after complete drying.
Substrate:
The substrate to be treated must be clean and dry or building moist, and free of oil, grease, and loose components. Rusted metal surfaces must be de-rusted. Norm standard: C St 2.
Processing:
sandroplast putty is applied with a spatula, trowel, or putty knife. It is advantageous to apply thicker layers in several work cycles with time intervals to achieve faster drying of the solvent. Otherwise, overly thick layers, especially under direct sunlight, may cause bubbling. Completely cut out any bubbles in the roof membrane, melt the surrounding areas, and spackle. Subsequently, spackle the exposed areas with sandroplast putty in combination with sandroplast glass fiber fabric. Small damage spots in the roof surface can also be repaired with sandroplast putty, possibly using sandroplast glass fiber fabric. If necessary, pre-treat with sandroplast bitumen primer. sandroplast bitumen putty should be smoothed out at the edges.
