SANDROPLAST Bitumen Primer
Product Type
Water-thinnable, solvent-free, low-odor coating based on bitumen
Application Area
Priming agent with good adhesion and deep anchoring for subsequent hot or cold liquid adhesive coats, top coats, and coatings based on bitumen as well as for bitumen membranes. Can be used as a primer in the field of building waterproofing, roof waterproofing, suitable for all common mineral substrates as well as substrates with residual bitumen coatings and bitumen roofing membranes. Sandroplast Bitumen Primer itself has no sealing effect.
Properties
In its composition, the product meets the requirements of DIN 18 195 Part 2 Table 41 No. 2 and AIB DS 835 Appendix II Column 3. Sandroplast Bitumen Primer is quick-drying and exhibits very good adhesion to the substrate, dust-dry according to DIN 18 195 Part 2, approximately 3 hours.
Substrate
All substrates must be firm, load-bearing, and free of separating substances such as release agents, dust, dirt, etc. The check is carried out by wiping and scratching tests. During the wiping test, the surface is wiped with the hand; no components should loosen from the substrate, nor should the hand become soiled. The scratching test is used to detect paint layers or hollow spots on otherwise solid substrates. Paint layers and hollow spots must be properly removed. The substrate must be free of burrs or sharp-edged unevenness, such as mortar, concrete overspray, or stone edges. The surface must be visually inspected. Overhanging edges and depressions should be removed. The substrate must be rough and absorbent. Solvent-based bitumen coatings require a dry substrate. Before applying subsequent layers, the primer must be sufficiently dry or ventilated.
Application
Sandroplast Bitumen Primer is applied by brushing, rolling, or spraying.
Note
Freshly applied coating may be foamed or washed off in heavy rain. FOR EXTERNAL USE ONLY.
Material Consumption
Depending on the absorbency of the substrate, approximately 0.2 to 0.3 l/m².
Storage Conditions
