KNAUF Sockel SM Pro 25kg Adhesive Reinforcement and Topcoat

Sockel SM Pro is a system-tested mineral all-rounder suitable as an adhesive mortar, reinforcement mortar, and topcoat in the spray water area. When used as an adhesive mortar and topcoat with a total plaster thickness of 7 mm, no additional protection of the plaster against ground moisture or moisture protection is necessary. This saves an additional product and travel to the construction site and provides flexibility when installing the ground level edge. The proof of moisture protection is confirmed by a general building authority test certificate.

Application area

• System-tested mineral universal all-rounder for the base area. Sockel SM Pro is particularly suitable for bonding and reinforcing all Knauf WARM WAND systems in the base area. The special fiber reinforcement provides maximum safety.
• System-tested adhesive and reinforcement mortar and topcoat for WARM WAND systems in the base area.
• As reinforcement mortar and topcoat with a total plaster thickness of 7 mm for the base and ground-contact areas without additional moisture protection.
• As an adhesive mortar on bituminous building waterproofing.
• As an adhesive mortar where capillary non-conductive adhesives are required, e.g., on existing perimeter insulation panels.
• Tested as a sealant for ground-contact floor slabs and exterior wall surfaces against ground moisture, capillary water, adhesion water, and non-stagnant percolation water, in accordance with DIN 181954.

Execution

Bonding layer: Insulation panels must be embedded or pressed into the wet mortar within 10 minutes. After further work, a minimum stand time of 48 hours must be observed. Depending on the substrate, additional embedding of the insulation panels 150 mm above ground level may be necessary.

Reinforcement mortar

In interior corners of window reveals to the lintel, embed reinforcement mesh strips fully in Sockel SM Pro or install mesh corner angles. Subsequently, attach mesh corner angles 100-150 mm straight and level. For exterior corners and lintels, install mesh corner angles diagonally at all openings. Embed reinforcement mesh strips approximately 300x500 mm directly from the corner into the wet mortar. Subsequently, embed the Knauf reinforcement mesh fully in the wet surface, overlapping at least 100 mm over the edge of the base coat. The reinforcement mesh must be completely covered by Sockel SM Pro. The layer thickness of the reinforcement layer in the base area on Knauf WARM WAND systems should be 5–7 mm.

Topcoat

For felted and freely textured surfaces, apply Sockel SM Pro at least the following day on the reinforcement mortar layer already applied with Sockel SM Pro. When stiffening, felt or freely texture.
