Substrate Preparation

Suitable substrates include concrete according to EN 206-1, minimum strength class C 20/25, and plaster at least strength class CS III according to EN 998-1, with cement mortar, fully bonded masonry made of clay bricks and calcium silicate bricks. Huts and concrete hollow blocks must be plastered with plaster at least strength class CS III before coating. The substrate must be firm, largely even, and finely porous on the surface. It must be free of nests, open cracks, and ridges, dust, water-repellent coatings, paint layers, or other adhesion-inhibiting layers. Pits and gravel nests on the wall should be filled with concrete filler PCI Polycret 5 or repair mortar PCI Pericret. Edges should be broken, with chamfers or fillets with a radius of at least 4 cm, rounded internal corners with construction mortar or repair and modeling mortar PCI RepaFix. Cement-bound substrates must be thoroughly pre-wetted; they should be matt moist at the time of application but must not show water film or puddles. Gussasphalt screeds indoors and ground Anhydrite or gypsum screeds should be primed with PCI Gisogrund. The primer must dry thoroughly. Anhydrite or gypsum screeds indoors should not have more than 0.5% residual moisture, measured with a CM device. Lime-cement plasters should be primed with PCI Gisogrund 1:1 diluted with water.

Processing of PCI Seccoral 2K Rapid

For processing PCI Seccoral 2K Rapid, two coats are necessary, each to be applied fully covering. The coating must have the required minimum thickness at every point for the expected water load.

Mixing the Two Components

• Spatula or spray application
• Mixing

Before mixing, the liquid component may need to be preheated. Pour the liquid component into a suitable clean mixing container and then add the powder component. Mix both components with a suitable mixer, e.g., from Collomix, for about 3 minutes until homogeneous. After a short maturation period of about 1 minute, briefly remix again.

Application

• Brush or spray method: After mixing both components, add approximately 10% water based on the liquid dispersion and stir again until a homogeneous mass is achieved.
• For partial quantities: 1 kg liquid component, 1 kg powder component, 0.1 l water.

Substrate Treatment

Thoroughly pre-wet the prepared cementitious substrate. When applying the waterproof coating PCI Seccoral 2K Rapid, the substrate must still be matt moist but free of puddles. Primed asphalt screeds and ground Anhydrite or gypsum screeds should be pre-wetted.

Processing

• First coat: Apply evenly and thoroughly with a trowel or roller, covering corners and broken edges carefully.
• Seal pipe penetrations and floor drains with PCI Pecitape 10/10 or PCI Pecitape 425/425. Seal wall and floor joints where no internal fillet has been formed with PCI Pecitape 120. Embed PCI Pecitape into the first layer of PCI Seccoral 2K Rapid and cover with the second layer.
• Apply a second and possibly third coat up to a total thickness of 5 mm in spatula technique with a smoothing trowel.

Installation of Ceramic Coverings

On the walkable coating, ceramic tiles can be laid after approximately 4 hours at 23°C and 50% relative humidity using PCI laying mortar, e.g., PCI Nanoflott Light, PCI Nanolight, PCI Flexmörtel, or PCI Flexmörtel Schnell. In outdoor areas, tiles should be laid as largely hollow space-free as possible.

Protection of the Coating

Construction pits should only be backfilled after the coating has sufficiently cured, approximately 3 days at 23°C and 50% relative humidity, and protected with appropriate protective measures according to DIN 18195. Protect the coating from damage caused by subsequent work, e.g., by a gypsum-free trowel plaster, protective screed, foam or mineral fiber panels, films, or other covering layers.
