ARDEX X 90 Microtec3 Flexible Adhesive 25kg

Application Area:
Interior and exterior wall and floor
Creating a flexible adhesive bed
Applying and laying of

  • Tiles made of stoneware, porcelain, and fine stoneware
  • Mosaics made of glass and porcelain
  • Concrete paving slabs
  • Moisture-insensitive natural stone slabs

Laying of tiles and slabs

  • on balconies and terraces
  • in swimming pools
  • in high-stress industrial and commercial areas

Applying ceramic cladding to facades
Applying and laying tiles on still shrinking substrates made of concrete and masonry at least 3 months old
Tiling on heated screeds

Type:
Powder containing cements, fillers, special additives, MICROTECFibers, and flexible plastics
Mixed with water, it forms a smooth, paste-like adhesive mortar with high stability. The working time is approximately 60 minutes. The mortar hardens through hydration and drying.

Substrate Preparation:
The dry or moist substrate must be firm, load-bearing, dimensionally stable, and free of dust, contaminants, or separating agents.
Gypsum substrates as well as absorbent or ground smooth anhydrite screeds must be dry and primed with ARDEX P 51 Bond and Primer Dispersion or ARDEX P 52 Primer Concentrate diluted 1:3 with water.
Metal, glass, paint coatings, coatings, and similar substrates should be primed with ARDEX P 82 Synthetic Resin Primer in interior areas.
Existing tile coverings in interior areas should be primed with ARDEX P 4 Fast Multi-purpose Primer, or pre-primed with ARDEX X 90 thin layer.
In permanently wet areas and exterior areas, ARDEXDichtmassen should be applied as adhesion bridges and sealants on tile coverings.
Laying of tiles with ARDEX X 90 is carried out after drying of the primer, adhesion bridge, or pre-smoothing.

Application:
In a clean mixing container, add clear water and mix in enough ARDEX X 90 OUTDOOR powder to obtain a lump-free, smooth, paste-like mortar. To improve workability, the mortar should be stirred again before application on the substrate.
Approximately 8.5 liters of water are needed to mix 25 kg of ARDEX X 90 powder.
The mortar consistency can be varied depending on the type, size, and weight of the tiles or slabs to be laid.
To produce a special adhesive with high deformability and water-repellent properties, mix ARDEX X 90 OUTDOOR powder with water in a 1:2 ratio with ARDEX E 90 synthetic resin dispersion.
The mixing ratio is approximately:

  • 25 kg ARDEX X 90 powder
  • 3.3 kg ARDEX E 90
  • 6.6 kg water

The ARDEX X 90 mortar is applied to the substrate and troweled with a notched trowel to ensure full-surface bonding of tiles or slabs. The substrate, type, size, and back of the tiles determine the choice of notch trowel. Rough and uneven substrates can be filled with ARDEX X 90. After the smoothing layer has hardened, laying can proceed.
The laying surfaces should only be so large that tiles and slabs can be easily inserted into the moist, paste-like mortar bed within the setting time of up to 30 minutes.
Tiles can be corrected up to 20 minutes after placement.
When bonding insulation and vapor barrier boards, the mortar is applied in strips or lumps to the back of the panels. If the panels to be applied have no open pores, the surface must be mechanically roughened beforehand.
For mosaics made of glass, porcelain, and ceramics, the mortar should be applied with a 3 mm or 4 mm notched trowel depending on the substrate condition. The mosaic is pressed into the fresh adhesive to ensure adequate wetting. Joints can be grouted later, if necessary, with suitable cementitious ARDEX joint mortars according to the application area and usage. In wet areas, ARDEX RG 12 16 should be used.
In case of doubt, trial bonding should be carried out.
ARDEX X 90 should be processed at temperatures above 5°C. Higher temperatures shorten, and lower temperatures extend, the processing and curing time.
