ARDEX S 7 PLUS Flexible Sealant Mortar 15 kg
Application Area
- Interior and exterior wall and floor sealing
- Sealing of wall and floor surfaces under tiles and slabs in areas subject to stresses such as balconies and terraces, swimming pools, shower rooms, building interiors, shower areas over bathtubs and sanitary rooms in public and commercial areas with floor drainage systems
DIN 18534 - Sealing of interior rooms
ARDEX S 7 PLUS can be used in water impact classes W0I, W1I, W2I, and W3I
W3I without additional chemical load
DIN 18535 - Sealing of tanks and pools
ARDEX S 7 PLUS can be used for sealing tanks and pools indoors and outdoors in water impact class W1B
DIN 18531 - Sealing of roofs, balconies, loggias, and terraces
ARDEX S 7 PLUS can be used for sealing balconies and terraces in bonded applications with tiles or slabs
Sealing of wall and floor surfaces in stress classes A and B according to the general technical approval for the issuance of a general building authority test certificate, e.g., public showers, swimming pool surrounds, etc., as well as for stress classes A0 and B0 in the unregulated area according to the ZDB leaflet
Notes for the execution of liquid-applied bonded sealings with coverings and finishes made of tiles and slabs for interior and exterior areas
In a paste-like consistency, also for leveling uneven surfaces
On substrates
Concrete, masonry, porous concrete, plasters of mortar groups II, III, and IV, drywall, fiber cement boards, and other construction boards, cement screeds, calcium sulfate screeds, old tiles and slab coverings, glazed and polished surfaces, sanded, heated screeds, and other suitable substrates
Type
Powder with special cements, fillers, specific additives, and flexible plastics
Mixed with water, it forms a smooth, spreadable, trowelable, and spatulaable mortar that hardens through hydration and drying
The hardened sealing layer is permanently waterproof and flexible
Preparation of the substrate
The substrate can be dry or moist but must be firmly load-bearing and free of dust and separating agents
Gypsum substrates and absorbent or ground smooth anhydrite screeds should be primed with ARDEX P 51 adhesion and primer dispersion, diluted with water
Gypsum plasters must be solid, dry, single-layer, at least 10 mm thick, not felted, and smoothed. Moisture ingress from the substrate must be excluded. The structural conditions should be checked before sealing application.
Mixing
ARDEX S 7 PLUS can be adjusted to spatula or brush application
The mixing ratio for a stable consistency is approximately 15 kg powder with 4 l water, and for a spreadable consistency, 15 kg powder with 5 l water
Suitable tools for mixing include a bucket or ring mixer using a mixer with at least 650 rpm
To improve processing quality, the mortar should be re-mixed after a reactivity time of 12 minutes.
Application
Only as much sealing compound should be applied as can be processed within 60 minutes
A sealing compound that has begun to set must not be re-diluted with water
For porous, highly absorbent substrates, ARDEX S 7 PLUS is first troweled sharply onto the substrate with the flat side of a notched trowel, filling pores and voids to prevent later defects
After initial setting, the mortar is applied with a 4 mm notched trowel and subsequently smoothed with a float to create an even layer
After sufficient setting of this first layer, a second layer of ARDEX S 7 PLUS is applied in the same thickness and also smoothed
Approximately 15 kg of mortar per square meter is needed for one application
Sanding of the surface is not necessary due to good adhesion properties
Due to the high stability of the material, joints and depressions can be filled in one step, and uneven areas can be spackled
After drying of the second layer (about 4 hours), tiling can be carried out
Sealing strips and sleeves are embedded in the first application of the ARDEX S 7 PLUS sealing layer and subsequently integrated into the second sealing layer
To create a waterproof protective layer, at least two spatula applications of 1 mm dry film thickness each must be made, as described above, with the material applied with a notched trowel and smoothed
For brush application, more than two layers may be necessary to achieve the required dry film thickness of 2 mm
It is essential to ensure a fully covering, closed, and well-adhering layer per coat
It must be ensured that the dry layer thickness of at least 2 mm, as required by DIN 18534, is maintained in at least two coats, requiring a total wet layer thickness of 2.5 mm.
Temperature considerations
Lower temperatures shorten, and lower temperatures extend the drying and processing times
ARDEX S 7 PLUS should be processed at temperatures above 5°C
Laying tiles and slabs
Tile and slab laying on ARDEX S 7 PLUS can be carried out approximately 4 hours after sealing application
