Application Areas

Substrate Preparation

• Minimum age of substrate:
  • Cement screed older than 3 days once walkable
  • Concrete 28 days
  • Anhydrite and gypsum screeds according to CM measurement
• The substrate must be firm, even, clean, and load-bearing. Remove any stains, surfaces, or contamination that could reduce adhesion thoroughly. The substrate must be flush and plumb according to DIN 18202.
• Plaster substrates must be approved by the plaster manufacturer for ceramic installation and suitable for the intended use.
• Use PCI Pericret to compensate for wall tolerances. Use PCI Periplan to level raw concrete structures with slight unevenness. For highly absorbent cement substrates and porous concrete, prime with PCI Gisogrund 1 diluted with water. For ground-sanded anhydrite or gypsum screeds, as well as gypsum-containing substrates and cast asphalt screeds indoors, prime with undiluted PCI Gisogrund. For time-sensitive work, prime cement and gypsum substrates with PCI Gisogrund Rapid. Allow primer to dry thoroughly.

Application of PCI Flexmörtel S2

• Preparation of the adhesive mortar:
  • Pour the mixing water (see table) into a clean mixing container. Add the powder subsequently and mix with suitable stirring or mixing tools attached to a drill until a homogeneous, lump-free mortar is achieved.
  • Allow PCI Flexmörtel S2 to mature for approximately 3 minutes, then briefly remix.
  • First, apply a thin contact layer to the substrate with the smooth side of a trowel, scratching it into the surface.
  • Then, apply the mortar with a notched trowel onto the fresh contact layer. Spread the adhesive in one direction only. Only apply as much mortar as can be covered with tiles within the open time. Check the open time with the finger test.
  • Set tiles and slabs with a slight sliding motion into the adhesive bed and align them.
