PCI Seccoral 1K Flexible Sealant for Sealing Under Ceramic Coverings on Balconies, Terraces, and Shower Installations

Application Area

Substrate Preparation

The substrate must be solid, largely level, and finely porous on the surface. It must be free of nests, open cracks, ridges, dust, water-repellent coatings, paint layers, or other adhesion-inhibiting layers. Pits and gravel nests in the wall should be filled with concrete filler PCI Polycret 5 or repair mortar PCI Polycret 20. Housings and concrete hollow blocks must be rendered with a plaster from mortar group CS III according to DIN 9981 before coating. Edges should be broken, chamfers, and fillets with a minimum radius of 4 cm, rounded internal corners with construction mortar or repair mortar PCI Repafix. Cement-bound substrates must be thoroughly pre-wetted; at the time of application, they should be matt moist but must not show a water film or puddles. Gussasphalt screeds indoors and ground Anhydrite or gypsum screeds with unvibrated PCI Gisogrund or PCI Gisogrund Rapid should be primed. Allow the primer to dry. Anhydrite or gypsum screeds indoors should not have more than 0.5% residual moisture content, measured with a CM device.

Processing of PCI Seccoral 1K

For processing PCI Seccoral 1K, at least two coats are necessary depending on the application process, each to be applied fully covering. The finished coating must have the required minimum layer thickness at every point.

Mix the powder with the appropriate amount of mixing water in a sufficiently large mixing container and stir with a suitable stirring or mixing tool attached to a drill until a lump-free mortar is achieved. Let PCI Seccoral 1K mature for about 3 minutes, then stir briefly again.

The first application, in a more fluid consistency, with 290 ml/kg of PCI Seccoral 1K powder, is applied thoroughly and surface-sealed by brushing or rolling. Carefully cover corners and broken edges. Allow the primer coat to dry.

Pipe penetrations and floor drains are sealed with PCI Pecitape 10 / 10 or PCI Pecitape 425 / 425. Seal corner joints and wall-floor connections where no internal angles have been formed with PCI Pecitape 120. Lay PCI Pecitape into the first coat and cover with the second coat.

After drying of the first coat, subsequent coats can be applied either by trowel or brush method until the required layer thickness is achieved.

Laying Ceramic Coverings

On the walkable PCI Seccoral 1K sealant, ceramic coverings can be laid after approximately 24 to 48 hours using PCI Nanoflott, PCI Rapidflott, or PCI Nanolight PCI Flexmörtel or PCI Flexmörtel Schnell. In outdoor areas, installation must be free of cavities.
