DIN 18531 waterproofing of roofs, balconies, loggias, and garden rooms
The ARDEX TRICOM seal frames can be used for waterproofing balconies and terraces in conjunction with tiles or slabs, according to building regulations & ZDB leaflet.
The ARDEX TRICOM seal frames are suitable for use in moisture exposure classes A, B, and C according to DIBt building list A part 2 No. 110 and classes A0 and B0 according to ZDB leaflet, as well as ETAG 022 waterproofing for walls and building structures in wet rooms, part 2, waterproofing membranes.
Type
The ARDEX SK TRICOM seal frames consist of a double-sided laminated polypropylene fleece carrier with a polyurethane carrier layer and, in the case of ARDEX SK 12 BT, an additional butyl adhesive strip. The material is waterproof, easy to cut with a knife or scissors, integrates well into sealing compounds, does not fold, and has high adhesion to sealing materials.
The low material thickness allows for an almost seamless coating with ARDEX sealing compounds. The ARDEX SK TRICOM seal frames are sufficiently permeable to diffusion, allowing the underlying sealing compounds to dry and cure properly.
Preparation of the substrate
The instructions contained in the technical data sheets of ARDEX sealing compounds and ARDEX sealing membranes must be observed. The joint openings must be sufficiently wide according to their calculated movement and, if necessary, chamfered at the edges to allow for loop formation.
Application of ARDEX SK 12 TRICOM Seal Tape
The seal frames are freshly embedded into the recently rolled, heated, or troweled ARDEX sealing compound in a measured manner and immediately pressed firmly with a smoothing trowel or spatula. The sealing compound must be the same as that used for the subsequent bonded waterproofing.
For waterproofing with the ARDEX SK 100 W membrane, ARDEX 7/8 sealing adhesive is used to embed the seal frames. Slightly pressing the tape over the edge or movement joint can form a loop as a material reserve for larger movements. Care must be taken to prevent the sealing compound from entering the movement space below.
In the overlap area, the seal frames must be overlapped by at least 5 cm or bonded with the respective sealing compound. After installing all necessary parts of the sealing set, the bonded waterproofing can be started. The second layer of the bonded waterproofing overlaps the corners and sleeves. In the movable zone, e.g., expansion joints, the sealing material must be cut to the same width.
Note
The ARDEX SK TRICOM seal frames must not be used in direct contact with solvent-based sealings or adhesives. In particularly exposed areas with aggressive chemical loads and exposure to fuels or alcohols, technical advice should be sought before use. In case of doubt, a trial installation or compatibility test should be performed.
ARDEX SK 90 TRICOM Interior Corner 90°, Exterior Corner 270°, and Seal Sleeve 140x140mm
Application Area
Interior and exterior wall and floor
Set for flexible and water-impermeable bridging of movement joints, edge joints, as well as crack-affected connections and penetrations
Type
The components of the ARDEX TRICOM sealing set consist of a double-sided laminated polypropylene fleece carrier with a polyurethane or polyvinyl chloride carrier layer, and in the case of ARDEX SK 12 BT, an additional butyl ring. The material is waterproof, easy to cut with a knife or scissors, integrates well into sealing compounds, does not fold, and has high adhesion to sealing materials.
The low material thickness allows for an almost seamless coating with ARDEX sealing compounds. The ARDEX SK TRICOM seal set is sufficiently permeable to diffusion, allowing the underlying sealing compounds to dry and cure properly.
Preparation of the substrate
The instructions contained in the technical data sheets of ARDEX sealing compounds and ARDEX sealing membranes must be observed. The openings must be sufficiently wide according to their calculated movement and, if necessary, chamfered at the edges to allow for loop formation.
Application of Ecken and Manschetten
They are freshly embedded into the recently rolled, heated, or troweled ARDEX sealing compound in a measured manner and immediately pressed firmly with a smoothing trowel or spatula. The sealing compound must be the same as that used for the subsequent bonded waterproofing. For waterproofing with the ARDEX SK 100 W membrane, ARDEX 7/8 sealing adhesive is used to embed the corners and sleeves. In the overlap area, the tape, corners, and sleeves must be overlapped by at least 5 cm or bonded with the respective sealing compound. Care must be taken to prevent the sealing compound from entering the movement space below. After installing all necessary parts of the sealing set, the bonded waterproofing can be started. The second layer of the bonded waterproofing overlaps the corners and sleeves. In the movable zone, e.g., expansion joints, the sealing material must be cut to the same width.
ARDEX SKW TRICOM Seal Sleeve 140 x 140
Prepared for a 12-inch pipe penetration through an existing opening. For larger openings, cut the necessary recess with scissors or a knife, approximately 8-12mm smaller than the pipe diameter. Center the recess of the seal sleeve over the pipe penetration. With uniform pressure, press the sleeve over the pipe extension or the fully mounted pipe and guide it to the substrate. The seal sleeve fits correctly if it presses at least 4 mm tightly and firmly against the pipe.
ARDEX SK 4 PROTECT Cutting Protection Tape 15m
Application Area
Interior and exterior wall and floor
Type
Self-adhesive tape made of double-woven aramid fabric with reinforced sleeve, with cut-resistant effect, for protecting bonded waterproofing during maintenance work in elastic joints
Preparation of the substrate
Before applying the ARDEX SK 4 PROTECT cutting protection tape, the waterproofing must be completely dry. The substrate must be dust-free, firm, and load-bearing.
Application
ARDEX SK 4 PROTECT is glued onto the waterproofing after complete drying. Remove the backing foil from the adhesive side and stick the tape centrally over the joint area. Then, proceed directly with tile installation.
Note
The ARDEX SK 4 PROTECT must not be used in direct contact with solvent-based waterproofings or adhesives. In particularly exposed areas with aggressive chemical loads and exposure to fuels or alcohols, technical advice should be sought before use. In case of doubt, a trial installation or compatibility test should be performed.
