PCI Epoxigrund 390 2K 10 KG
Product Properties
- Low viscosity, ensures secure adhesion of subsequent coatings or sealings
- Seals pores effectively, preventing air bubbles from rising from the substrate into the top layers
- Moisture barrier, requires two coats until residual moisture is 7 CM in the substrate for cement screeds on underfloor heating, and 5 CM when used as a primer before applying floor leveling compounds with subsequent laying of textiles, elastic coverings, or parquet
- Solvent-free according to TRGS 610, environmentally friendly and safe for the user, no emissions from solvents, no fire or explosion hazard
- Very low emissions, GEV EMICODE EC 1 R
- EU 200442IIAj550500 200 g PCI Epoxigrund 390
- EU 200442IIAj550500 100 g PCI Epoxigrund Rapid
Application Areas
- For interior and exterior use
- For walls and floors
- As a primer for PCI sealings and coatings on cementitious substrates, cast asphalt screeds, ceramic coverings, synthetic resin coatings, and wood substrates
- As a primer for building interiors before applying floor leveling compounds, also suitable for subsequent parquet bonding on concrete, cement, calcium sulfate, and magnesite screeds
- Cast asphalt screeds, ceramic coverings, and synthetic resin coatings
- Wood substrates
- Substrates with adhesive residues from dispersions, reactive resins, water-soluble adhesives such as sulfite release adhesives, and bituminous adhesives
- As a leveling or fine smoothing compound with quartz sand mixture
- As a binder for the production of epoxy resin screeds, repair mortars, and drainage mortars
- Suitable for use on ships, meeting the requirements of Marine Equipment Directive MED 9698
Substrate Preparation
- The substrate must be dry, solid, clean, and free of grease and other adhesion impairing layers
- Concrete and screeds may only be abraded with a wooden board or felt disc, not troweled with steel trowels
- Glazed or sealed surfaces should be roughened by grinding, sandblasting, or shot blasting (e.g., Blastrac)
- The strength requirement depends on the subsequent sealings or coatings
- Cracks should be repaired before priming with PCI Repament or PCI Novoment M1 plus in combination with PCI Repa adhesive
- Existing cracks should be sealed with PCI Epoxigrund Rapid or other suitable epoxy resins
- If necessary, determine concrete moisture content with a CM gauge, maximum 4%
- When using PCI Epoxigrund 390 or Rapid as a primer before applying floor leveling compounds with subsequent laying of textiles, elastic coverings, or parquet, PCI Epoxigrund 390 or Rapid can be used as a moisture barrier up to residual moisture of 7 CM in cement screeds on underfloor heating, and 5 CM when used as a primer, requiring two coats
Processing of PCI Epoxigrund 390 and PCI Epoxigrund Rapid
- Wear protective gloves and safety glasses
- Mixing: Remove the caps from both components and add the entire base component to the resin component. Mix thoroughly with a suitable stir or mixing tool (e.g., Collomix attachment on a slow-running, variable-speed drill at approx. 300 rpm) for at least 3 minutes
- For 1 kg packages, mix with a wooden or metal spatula. Transfer the mixed material to a new container, scrape residual material from the container edges and bottom into the mixture, and remix
- Priming for sealings (e.g., PCI Apokor W, PCI Supracolor, PCI Epoxigrund 390, PCI Epoxigrund Rapid): Apply section-wise to the pretreated substrate with a roller or brush, full-surface coverage
- Priming for coatings (e.g., PCI Apoten, PCI Apoflex, PCI Epoxigrund 390, PCI Epoxigrund Rapid): Apply section-wise with a roller or brush, full-surface coverage. Immediately after application, sprinkle with dry quartz sand (0.3–0.8 mm, max. 500 g)
- Priming with PCI Aposan, PCI Epoxigrund 390, or PCI Epoxigrund Rapid: Apply section-wise with a brush or roller, full-surface coverage. Within 1 hour, spackle the still tacky primer with PCI Aposan
- Leveling or fine smoothing: For rough substrates or uneven surfaces, apply PCI Epoxigrund 390 or Rapid mixed with dry quartz sand (grain size 0.1–0.4 mm, e.g., quartz sand F 32, ratio 1:1). For vertical surfaces, add approx. 1% of PCI Stellmittel and trowel in layer thickness. Immediately after application, sprinkle with dry quartz sand (0.3–0.8 mm, max. 500 g). After curing, sweep off loose sand and vacuum
- For substrates to be covered with floor leveling compounds, textiles, elastic coverings, or parquet, apply PCI Epoxigrund 390 or Rapid section-wise, full-surface, with a roller or brush. Immediately after application, sprinkle with dry quartz sand (0.3–0.8 mm, approx. 1 kg/m²). After curing, remove loose sand and vacuum
- If a moisture barrier is desired, apply PCI Epoxigrund 390 or Rapid twice: first coat without quartz sand, let dry (~8 hours or 3 hours for Rapid), then apply a second coat, immediately sprinkle with quartz sand, and after curing, remove loose sand. Alternatively, use PCI VG 2 primer on the last coat of PCI Epoxigrund before applying floor leveling compounds
- Use PCI Epoxigrund Rapid as a crack filler: Mix into narrow cracks (1–2 mm wide) to a depth of at least 5 mm or 15 times the crack width. For wide cracks, mix PCI Epoxigrund Rapid with fire-dried quartz sand (grain size 0.3–0.8 mm, ratio 1:2) and fill. For cracks cut perpendicular to the crack line, insert reinforcement clips or embed in drilled holes. After leveling, remove excess material and sprinkle with quartz sand (0.3–0.8 mm) to full saturation, then sweep off excess after curing
