PCI Epoxigrund 390 2K Special Primer 1 KG Bucket

Product features:

  • Low viscosity, secure adhesion of subsequent coatings or sealants
  • Dense pore closure, prevents rising of air bubbles from the substrate into the top layers
  • Moisture barrier, two coats required until residual moisture is 7 CM% in the substrate for cement screeds on foot; underfloor heating until residual moisture is 5 CM% when used as a primer before applying floor leveling compounds with subsequent laying of textile and elastic coverings or parquet
  • Solvent-free according to TRGS 610, no environmental or worker exposure through solvent vapors, no fire or explosion hazard
  • Very low emissions, GEVEMODEC EC 1 R
  • EU 200442IIAj550500 200 g PCI Epoxigrund 390
  • EU 200442IIAj550500 100 g PCI Epoxigrund Rapid

PCI Epoxigrund Rapid:

  • Fast drying, reworkable after approximately 3½ hours
  • As a binder for the production of quickly usable epoxy resin screeds, repair mortars, and drainage mortars
  • Suitable as a crack sealing resin for force-locked sealing of cracks in screeds

EMICODE EC 1 R

Available in: 25 kg set, 17.50 kg pail, 7.50 kg bucket, 10 kg bucket, 1 kg can

Application areas:

  • For interior and exterior use
  • For wall and floor
  • As a primer for PCI sealings and PCI coatings on cementitious substrates, cast asphalt screeds, ceramic coverings, synthetic resin coatings, and wood substrates
  • As a primer for floors indoors before applying floor leveling compounds, also when subsequent parquet bonding on
    • Concrete floors, cement, calcium sulfate, and magnesite screeds
    • Cast asphalt screeds
    • Ceramic coverings and synthetic resin coatings
    • Wood substrates
    • Substrates with adhesive residues from dispersions, reaction resins, water-based adhesives such as sulfite release adhesives, and bituminous adhesives
  • Suitable as a leveling filler or fine leveling with quartz sand mixture
  • As a binder for the production of epoxy resin screeds, repair mortars, and drainage mortars
  • Suitable for use on ships; meets the requirements of Marine Equipment Directive MED 9698EC

Substrate pretreatment:

  • The substrate must be dry, firm, clean, and free from oil, grease, and other adhesion-reducing layers. Concrete and screeds should only be abraded with a wooden board or felt disc, not troweled with a steel trowel. Troweled or broomed surfaces should be roughened by grinding, sandblasting, or shot blasting (Blastrac). The strength requirement of the substrate depends on the subsequent sealings or coatings. Cracks should be repaired before priming with PCI Repament or PCI Novoment M1 plus in combination with PCI Repaadhesive. Existing cracks should be sealed with PCI Epoxigrund Rapid or other suitable PCI crack sealing resins.
  • If necessary, determine concrete moisture content with the CM device; it must not exceed 4%.
  • Only when PCI Epoxigrund 390 or Rapid is used as a primer before applying floor leveling compounds with subsequent laying of textile and elastic coverings or parquet, PCI Epoxigrund 390 or Rapid can be used as a moisture barrier up to residual moisture of 7 CM% in the substrate for cement screeds, on foot; up to residual moisture of 5 CM% on underfloor heating. This requires two coats of primer.

Application of PCI Epoxigrund 390 and PCI Epoxigrund Rapid:

Wear protective gloves and safety glasses!

  1. Mixing:
Remove the caps from both component containers and fully pour the hardener component into the base component. Mix thoroughly with a suitable stirrer or mixing device, e.g., from Collomix, attached to a slow-running, infinitely adjustable drill at approximately 300 rpm for at least 3 minutes. For 1 kg containers, stir with a wooden or metal spatula. The mixed material must be decanted. Scrape off residues from the container rim and bottom, add to the mixture, and stir again.
  2. Primer for sealings, e.g., PCI Apokor W, PCI Supracolor:
Pour PCI Epoxigrund 390 or PCI Epoxigrund Rapid in sections onto the pretreated substrate and apply evenly with a roller, brush, or paint roller.
  3. Primer for coatings, e.g., PCI Apoten, PCI Apoflex:
Pour PCI Epoxigrund 390 or PCI Epoxigrund Rapid in sections onto the pretreated substrate and apply evenly with a roller, brush, or paint roller. Immediately after application, broadcast with dry quartz sand 0.3 to 0.8 mm; max 500 g/m².
  4. Primer for PCI Aposan:
Apply PCI Epoxigrund 390 or PCI Epoxigrund Rapid in sections with a brush or roller onto the pretreated substrate, fully covering. Within 1 hour, spackle the still fresh, sticky primer with PCI Aposan.
  5. Leveling filler / fine leveling:
For rough substrate surfaces or uneven substrates, a surface leveling or fine leveling should be performed. Mix PCI Epoxigrund 390 or PCI Epoxigrund Rapid with dry quartz sand of grain size 0.1 to 0.4 mm, e.g., quartz sand F 32, in a ratio of 1:1. For vertical surfaces, add about 1% PCI dispersing agent and trowel in layer thickness. Immediately after application, scratch trowel with dry quartz sand 0.3 to 0.8 mm; max 500 g/m².
  6. Primer before applying floor leveling compounds when textile and elastic coverings or parquet are to be laid subsequently:
Pour PCI Epoxigrund 390 or PCI Epoxigrund Rapid in sections onto the pretreated substrate and apply evenly with a roller, brush, or paint roller. Immediately after application, broadcast with dry quartz sand grain size 0.3 to 0.8 mm, approximately 1 kg/m². After the primer has dried, sweep off loose quartz sand and vacuum. At the earliest, after about 8 hours or 3½ hours with PCI Epoxigrund Rapid, continue working after applying the primer. If a moisture barrier is desired, apply PCI Epoxigrund 390 or PCI Epoxigrund Rapid twice. The first coat is applied without quartz sand broadcast and allowed to dry for about 8 or 3½ hours. After 3 days, apply the second coat. The second coat is immediately broadcast with dry quartz sand grain size 0.3 to 0.8 mm, approximately 1 kg/m². After drying, remove excess quartz sand. Alternatively, instead of broadcasting with quartz sand, a universal primer PCI VG 2 can be applied to the dried, last coat of PCI Epoxigrund 390 or PCI Epoxigrund Rapid. About 2 hours after applying PCI VG 2, a floor leveling compound can be applied.
  7. Use of PCI Epoxigrund Rapid as a crack sealing resin:
Mix the material and inject into narrow cracks approximately 1 to 2 mm wide. Cracks must be filled to a minimum depth of 5 mm or 15 times the crack width. For wide cracks, mix with fire-dried quartz sand (grain size 0.3 to 0.8 mm) in a ratio of 1 part PCI Epoxigrund Rapid to 2 parts quartz sand and inject. For cracks cut perpendicular to the crack direction, insert reinforcement staples during sealing. After sealing, remove excess material from the surface. Then, immediately broadcast the still fresh resin with quartz sand grain size 0.3 to 0.8 mm, fully saturating. After curing, remove excess quartz sand.
