Substrate Preparation
- The substrate must be clean, dry, firm, and load-bearing. It must be free of coatings and other substances that impair adhesion, such as wax.
- The moisture content of wooden substrates must not exceed the equilibrium moisture content of 6 to 12% by weight, depending on the type of wood material.
- Wood-based panels such as chipboards or OSB panels must have a maximum moisture content of 10%. The chipboard V 100 E1 or OSB panel must be at least 25 mm thick and fixed to the substructure with a maximum spacing of 40 cm. The edge joint must be at least 8 mm wide. For chipboards, the edges must be glued. For panel thicknesses under 25 mm and beam spacing over 40 cm, additional reinforcement with PCI Armiermatte is required.
- Loose, springy, or creaking boards must be re-fastened by screwing. Solid wood substrates must be sanded and thoroughly vacuumed. Joints, cracks, and holes should be sealed with PCI Adaptol. Wall joints should be sealed with the self-adhesive edge strip PCI Pecitape Silent.
- Heavily contaminated or corroded metal surfaces must be pretreated by sandblasting or grinding and, if necessary, coated with a corrosion protection.
Priming
- Use PCI Gisogrund 404 for priming. The container should be thoroughly stirred before use.
Processing of PCI Periplan Extra
- Pour approximately 35 cm diameter and sufficiently high mixing container with clean water into a round container.
- Add PCI Periplan Extra and mix with a suitable stirrer or mixing attachment on a powerful drill for at least 3 minutes until lump-free.
- Apply PCI Periplan Extra onto the dried, primed surface with a trowel or smoothing trowel in the required layer thickness.
- During application, level and de-air PCI Periplan Extra with a notched roller.
- During processing and curing, avoid drafts, strong heat sources, and direct sunlight for approximately 12 hours.
- Ceramic coverings can be laid after about 1 day with the following PCI laying materials: PCI Flexmörtel, PCI Nanolight, PCI Flexmörtel Schnell, PCI Nanoflott light, PCI Rapidflott. For natural stones, use PCI Carraflex, PCI Carralight, PCI Carrament, or PCI Carraflott NT. Compatibility of other laying materials should be verified by preliminary tests.
- Depending on substrate and climate conditions, the laying readiness for carpets is reached after about 1 day, and for vapor-tight coverings after about 3 days.
