Application Area

Suitable as a vapor barrier according to DIN 4108 Part 3, SIA 180, ÖNORM B 81102, EnEV, and ETAG 007, as well as an airtightness membrane according to DIN 4108 Part 7. It is a component of the Knauf Insulation airtightness system, which is certified for long-term function and aging resistance.

Durability of Material Joints

Professional bonding with certified system components ensures high aging resistance > 50 years, verified by test report from the University of Kassel, meeting the requirements of ETAG 007 guidelines for European technical approval and construction standards for timber frame construction.

Processing

Please observe the respective processing guidelines. In addition, applicable standards and generally recognized rules of technology apply. The installation of LDS 2 Silk must be carried out so that the printed, smooth side faces the installer and the fleece-coated side faces the substrate, rafter. The aging-resistant and durable bonding with LDS adhesive tapes has been proven on the printed, smooth side. Bonding on the back side for connection to adjacent components is possible with LDS Solimur.

Note: Blown-in insulation

In conjunction with blown-in insulation, fixing of LDS 2 Silk is carried out with staples 8x10 mm, placed at a maximum distance of 100 mm. Furthermore, a substructure, e.g., wooden battens 30-50 mm, is generally required to relieve the LDS 2 Silk, which must be installed before blowing in the insulation at a maximum spacing of 500 mm.
